How's it different? I work to make money just like everyone else. I'd never do that in a million years, but in my mind the principal is the same. If I ever signed a contract, I'd honor it. I'd respect the people who helped me get to where I am.
Yes, Punk leaving a job where his coworkers are making upwards of six figures a year(with or without him), and leaving his fans to find someone else to cheer for is the same as leaving people with disabilities to fend for themselves...
Sour apple bitter *****es.
You can call it bitter all you want. I disagree. I call it honour.
I didn't expect him to go on forever. But he could have given notice or given his fans a proper goodbye. He could have finished his feud with one more appearance. That's just how I think respect works. I feel like respect is something you show to everyone else. My example was extremely ridiculous but this pro wrestling.Lol, the dude was sick as hell and somehow survived with a huge MRSA infection for months due to the negligence of the company.
He was an independent contractor. He could have done whatever he wanted. Instead of making himself miserable and depressed as hell and do something he didn't like anymore, he left, got himself help, got better and healthier, and didn't risk his opponents bodies in WWE by doing something he was 100% into anymore.
You claim you're not bitter but your posts in this thread and on the wrestling's boards' thread for the fight point to bitterness.
Punk got ****ed but he deserves all the respect in the world for having a dream and jumping at the chance and getting out of his comfort zone.
As far as the infection goes - I don't know much about that. Had it been settled? If that's 100% correct from what I just read - I take what I said about him leaving back assuming he quit fairly soon after. He's health is most important. And I'll feel bad for bad talking him.
I'm not bitter. Was never a huge Punk fan. Mostly, I thought if this was his dream he should do it right. Figured he did it for a payday. I'm seeing the money amount is pretty small (if accurate - which contradicts Punk's comment to Gall a week ago). And if I'm honest, if the Habs or WWE offered me the chance to suit up ... I would too. Can't fault him for that after thinking about it.
At the end of the day.. Everyone could see he wasn't ready. He should have taken more time. Especially since his training didn't matter at all because he decided to throw all tactics out the window within 2 seconds.
Might not have been the best example but I just used it because it relates to me. It's a contract like situation which I honour dearly. My thoughts exactly lol. I didn't know entertainers' responsibilities were akin to caregivers.
Hearing more about this staph infection is changing my opinion on Punk though. I'm trying to match the timeline.
And let me tell you - caregivers or whatever ... At the end of the day it's all about money. That's why there are strikes and thats why company decisions almost universally put money above care. I worked in a Nursing Home and they wouldn't pay OT no matter the circumstances. Three or four people short? **** it. $$$$$. That's why I switched to a similar but far different field.
