Player Discussion Tyler Seguin

FYI, Seguin is already only 5 points out of moving into the top 100 in points scored in franchise history.

He's already in the top 90 in franchise history in goals scored.

That seems impressive, but at the same time ... that sounds like a guy with two average seasons could pull that off. Is Minnesota's/Dallas' Top 100 that weak?

That's crazy.

Pretty much. Only 83 players have hit the 100 point mark with the club. Benoit freakin Hogue is 72nd if that gives you any indication.

I was looking at your list .. it's crazy that Seguin could be Top 50 in both categories if he simply duplicates this season.

Benn's possibly 2 years from Top 10 goals.

I think it's way past time we start discussing whether this is the worst trade in franchise history..We've tried painting a pretty face on this one but..Been a real boondoggle so far.

I think you'd likely find a similar distribution of points amongst the whole class of '67. If you look at the top 10 scorers in Flyers' history for example (a franchise generally considered more successful) the totals at the various ranks closely resemble the Stars' top 10. I doubt the rest of the list would be significantly different.

It does help you appreciate just how difficult it is for an individual to sustain production and remain with a team over their career.

Yes that does. We're coming up on 50 years as a franchise. I obviously hadn't really considered how little guys hang around. I guess that makes Modano, Lehtinen, and Zubov that much more special. Hopefully Seguin, Benn, and Nichushkin can have similar long term success in Dallas.

all he's done since he's got here is drink and fondle women. Sure he's put up a couple goals, but they don't even count!

I mean seriously, it may seem like he has a lot of points, but if you take away all those goals and assists he has basically no points.

I hope they send him to rehab in the offseason.

Nill is an idiot, he made the trade for a stupid drunk now we're stuck with that alcoholic for another 5 years after this one. This team....

Seguin: points in 61.3% of his games
Kessel: points in 60.7% of his games

much inconsistency, such drunk, wow, lots non-defending

Look back at the trade thread. Who would have thought Seguin would be this good? The HF consensus at the time was that Loui was going to have a better year than Seguin. I miss ol' Lou though, who was my favorite Star at the time.

The Benn and Seguin chemistry is crazy fun to watch.

Points in 23 of past 27. So inconsistent.

I don't think anyone expected him to be this good. Going to be fun watching him grow on this team. Just the start!

Also...Seguin has 8 game winners on the year, one away from tying for fourth on franchise list for game winners in a single season. Team record is 11 by Nieuwendyk in 97-98 and Hull in 98-99. Probably won't get that but wouldn't be shocked to see him tie for 4th.

We need to hurry up and trade him as his stock is diminishing rapidly. It would have been nice to get something valuable in return for Loui and Reilly.

I'm honestly surprised by the lack of attention that his goal tonight has received. The way he caught the puck with stick, settled it with the skate, kicked it back to his stick and wired that wrister was ****ing sick. Superstar stuff right there.

But he's a drunkard so **** him.

Oh and I'd like to throw out a giant "**** you" to the Bruins organization for that entire debacle that ensued after the trade. It is beyond pathetic to drag a kids name and reputation through the mud just so you can justify a trade to your fanbase. Boston has a great team and they have a great thing going up there...but for Christ's sake, nut up and tell the truth as to why you made the trade rather than spread gossip like a 14 year old girl.

He's about on pace for what I expected him to be. He's (up until this year) been the most under-rated player of the last decade easily. He's the 2nd-3rd best all-around player in the world in my books. His skill-set is just something that is seen in only the truly elite.

Oh, and he's only 22. Yeah we're set.

Edit: let me rephrase that. 2nd-3rd best asset in the league. Not necessarily player today, though I'd consider him top 5 right now if we're talking strictly "who can produce this year?"

This is one of the funniest threads on HFB.

Want the Rangers to take the drunk off your hands? :naughty:

Why would the Rangers want him? Aren't they a playoff team? We'd probably have to retain salary and send a 1st along.

Don't want to give up the first if we can help it. Maybe Ritchie and retained salary?
In the end though i would definitely retain salary if we had to.
