Tyler Randell Vs. Max Talbot -Highlander Rules: There can only be one

I think Julien is a great coach but sometimes I'd like to grab him and give his head a shake. His brain gets stuck in neutral, does he think Kempainen or Talbot bring anything to the table? Both should be sent back to Providence and our fourth line should be Rinaldo/Ferraro/Randell. We need the speed, energy and physical play coming from these guys. Spooner is much more important to this team playing the middle on the third line.
Bottom six should be

Vatrano/Spooner/Pasta
Rinaldo/Ferraro/Randell

Hayes odd man out.

Both lines could be suspect defensively but no worse than what we are seeing from the current bottom six. At least these two lines can bring offense and physical play to the equation.

This thread should be renamed Kemppainen vs. Randell, cause to me it comes down to one of them going if/when the rest of the roster is healthy.

I'd vote for Kemppainen, without question.

But based on Claude's usage (or lack thereof) of Randell, especially him not playing the Anaheim game, it will likely be Randell.

I would agree with this, were it not for the fact that I think Talbot's cooked and shouldn't be playing with this team anymore anyway....

If Kemp MUST stay, i'd prefer it as a fourth line center, with Ferarro on the third line RW, and Randell as Kemp's RW.

I am aware this means Hayes is out of the lineup. I don't really care. As far as I'm concerned both he and Ferraro are both soft.

Jimmy Hayes makes Landon Ferraro look like Dale Hunter and Bobby Clarke put together to make some kind of Frankenstein cheap shot/leadership hybrid monster.

Kemppainen should be sent to Providence and, even though he doesn't bring a ton to the table talent wise, Talbot should be left alone. Randell should dress every game.

It is amazing that it took two centers who can't score and are slow to replace Kelly in Juliens scheme.

I have no problem really keeping Talbot in right now. I think it'd help him to have a kid like Rinaldo on his wing to bring speed to the line, and have Randell as the true HW RW.

THAT would've been a fun line to watch against the Ducks! Talbot's still got some worth, mainly if he can manage to do ok in the faceoffs, and he DOES bring an occasional hit.

So maybe guys like Kemp and Ferraro are the real problem here, but eitehr way you look at it, I STILL think Randell should be playing regardless. Rinaldo too. This team needs them like it or not.

If there was any game to dress Randell it was Tuesday night. Arguably the heaviest team in the league and Claude dresses his softest line up. With that said lets compare.

Max Talbot:

GP: 28
G: 2
A: 3
P: 5
+/-: -8
ATOI: 11:25

Joonas Kemppainen:

GP: 35
G: 1
A: 2
P: 3
+/-: -11
ATOI: 12:36

Tyler Randell:

GP: 20
G: 4
A: 0
P: 4
+/-: +1
ATOI: 6:31

Someone please tell me what this kid has to do to get back into the line up because hes been far better than Talbot and Kemppainen.

to me it's Kemp, Talbot and Ferraro, only one can stay, to be 13th forward.

All completely independent. Tyler Randall is not a difference maker. I'd rather save Krejci for 5 on 5 and PK. with those 3 at the moment we have 3 PK units of

Marchand - Bergeron
Kemp - Loui
Talbot - Ferraro

If Randall wants to be an every day player, do their jobs better.

IDK , it's great that they can play on the PK but they suck ES, which is how you play most of the game.

Except Randall isn't a world beater at ES either...sooooo...?

True but , I actually never advocated for Randall, all I said was I'm not interested in any of these guys.

That said while Randall is no world beater he at least brings an element that was sorely lacking last game against the Ducks. Kinda sounds stupid in a sentence, they were manhandled by ducks

He's better than Kamppainen, in very limited time he has scored some goals and was a penalty killer in Providence last year. He goes to the net and plays a simple, smart game. Take fighting out of the equation and he is still a better option than Kemppanen, add that part of Randells game back in and there is no reason he shouldn't be dressed every game.

agreed, other than being a very good face off man, have been less than impressed with Kemp. I thought by this time of the year he`d feel more comfortable and bring more, he hasn`t, time to make a change

I totally forgot when Tyler Randall played center and took face offs. Everyone keeps comparing him to Kemp and to Talbot, when his comparison is Ferraro. Ferraro isn't the 4 line C at the moment because he sucks in the dot. Kemp is second in the dot on this team, which is something HIGHLY valued by Claude. Hell that's probably why Spooner is playing wing lately with Krejci and Bergeron because he's down to 40%.

Also don't get this confused with me liking Kemp or Talbot in the line up. I don't think either bring much overall on the ice, but I think the bottom 6 on this roster has a **** ton of holes.

I firmly believe that Spooner is being tried at wing as Loui's replacement, they are preparing to move Eriksson and are trying to see if Spooner can handle the wing.

Just my opinion.

But they were "mighty ducks"!

A couple useless shrimps got called up from Providence in the New Years outdoor game in order to play 3mins (even though the Bruins won the previous game against Montreal when Randell was in the lineup) --they must have been called up and put in the lineup over Randell due to their faceoff abilities, right? Or was it their PK abilities?

Time to call a spade a spade here, folks. Randell hasn't made it onto Julien's biased list of favourites.

Here is a box score from the win of the 3-1 victory on 12/9. Whoops :sarcasm:. Oh wait, I got it. Claude hates him so much even when he plays he has to pretend to be someone else.

This has gotten childish. I could post a boscore of the first time we played the Canucks (and won 4-0) with Randell scoring while in the line-up and then the next one where we got beat up by the Canucks with Randell scratched -----but the point would be as disingenuous as yours.

The real point, as much as you want to spin away from it with faceoffs, is that: Randell should be getting more games as our 4th line RWer his body of work so far shows that he deserves time (certainly not every game, but more games) over some other players who have been given his spot.

The coach makes the line-up decision, therefor it is obvious that the coach does not like him.

It appears that you are taking that word in the context of a jr. high girl, but I mean it as Julien doesn't like him (as a hockey player). I'm not one of the conspiracy theorists that the coach likes one guy more than another based on personality etc. I just know that Julien has his favourites (surely based on the style of play) he likes and Randell is not one of those guys.
