Tyler Randell Vs. Max Talbot -Highlander Rules: There can only be one

You guys just don't get it . Randall wasn't going to take 20 draws against florida and take 15 against Edmonton. We currently have no guy who can step in to the role Talbot plays. Ferraro is the closest thing. If kemp or Kelly were healthy randall would be ahead of Talbot on the depth chart . Well they are out I am sad to tell you to get used to Talbot because you are going to see him in somewhere between 80-100 percent of the games. Just for the record id much rather see randall but it is very obvious where claude is coming from on this and it has a lot of merit.

So a guy who can play 4th line minutes and take faceoffs, who doesn't hit, fight, or give you any offense is somehow a tough role to fill?

...

With Talbot having been waived twice and Randell having been in Boston all year, I'm pretty sure Sweeney has made his choice. And its the right one.

But Julien is replacing Kemp and Ferraro was brought in to replace Kelly. Talbot makes more sense for this role and he's played well doing so.

When Kempainnen is healthy, Talbot will go back down and this will cease to be a decision.

Every day Talbot is in the lineup over Randell a little piece of me dies on the inside.

Couldn't agree more, it's downright killing me at this point. *** Clode, you can't possibly tell me that Sweeney/Neely is on board with this. If they are, shame on all of them.

Just one man's opinion ... but Max has been pretty solid in this last call-up. I'd put Randell in for Rinaldo, but I'm 100% fine with Talbot on the roster given the current injuries.

And I would put him in over hayes.

Move Ferraro up. His stat line shows he can put the puck in, so lets give the boy some time on a few other lines.

Hayes has been a black hole.

Really I think Rinaldo gets an A+ for his roll.

He has taken 35 draws in two games so when the guys who can fill this role Kelly and kemp are hurt yes it is. You are basically comparing a center to a winger . If Kemp was centering rinaldo and Talbot you would have way more of a case. If you want to argue face offs mean nothing --go that direction but as this team is set up now due to injuries you are comparing apples to oranges two completely different roles for these two guys at this time.

forget Talbot. he takes draws, so I can see that.
But randell should def be in there ahead of hayes. That guy brings nothing.

He's been great of late. No actual penalties either, just reputation calls. He seems to have left Philly Rinaldo behind.

What would have been a super fourth line would be Rinaldo-Kelly-Randell

I like Ferraro though maybe he can be that guy

I didn't create the thread, and sure - it is comparing two different positions. I simply think Talbot brings next to nothing to the table. Great, Claude is putting him out often because he can take faceoffs - he brings little else that I can see and I appreciate the little things.

I like Randell's game, he's a better player IMO and can do more.

hes been great.
watch the other teams defensemen go after the puck when hes on the forecheck.
lots of bad outlet passes.

Rinaldo may eventually lose his mind on the ice but if we get a clean hitting machine like this I am ecstatic

It's a shame kelly went down because Claude trusted him so much he *might* have given us Rinaldo & Randell with kelly keeping them doing what they do best

I would hope this is the case I cant guarantee it but this is what people around here have to understand. He currently isn't choosing him over randall . If Kemp comes back and he dresses Talbot with him and rinaldo than by all means look at all the pros and cons and get mad but right now he has very little choice even in my eyes a randall guy.

Well your comment to me was how hard can it be to replace a guy taking 35 draws in two games . Its very hard considering the other guy is a straight up and down tough winger . He isn't the one to fill it. Spooner sure cant. As I said earlier ferraro is closest to style but I really don't know much about his face off talents. If Claude could trust him on faceoffs that would up the debate but well ferraro is taking one draw a game I think we have the answer.

He doesn't hit, although he was credited with 5 last night, giving him 12 in 10 games and he doesn't have any offensive ability.

Personally, I think you'd be better with Ferraro centering Rinaldo and Randell.

While faceoffs are important, so is being able to do something with the puck once you have it.

Well whatever as Id say I would love to see randall and rinaldo as the fourth line wingers but I know its not going to happen much currently unless Talbot is centering them. If hayes or connolly sit you might see that line. The problem there is I don't see ferraro playing much higher than a 4th line for more than the odd game and I also cant see him being scratched currently.

I just like what Randell brings to the table more than Talbot. I don't even dislike Talbot, I just don't think he should be playing over Randell. Randell is a pretty tough son of a *****. He can chip in, he doesn't look lost and he can punch your head into the 8th row.

Rinaldo/Randell - Kemppainen - Ferraro

Plus Randell can puck the puck in the net once in a while..
