I seriously doubt that Myers and his agent are going to accept a huge haircut on his contract to come back to Vancouver. This might be the last NHL contract he'll ever get, so he has to 'go for it'.

So if he's determined to test free agency, he's as good as gone. Some team starved for right-shot d-men is bound to overpay.

He salvaged his NHL career based on his last season with the Canucks.....but the Myers experiment has run its course for the Canucks.

Regular season his face washes/shoves/cross checks/box outs and slightly awkward checks get called but in the playoffs they don’t, he was really effective in the playoffs for us and was our 2nd best defender after Big Z.

His buyout this summer is relatively painless and I'm a big advocate of this option.

Why would we buy him out though? Our head coach is playing him over 20 minutes a game of late and he's making $3M as a RHD with size. Utilize him on the 3rd pairing or on the 2nd pairing paired with a #3. Our right side right now consists of Juulsen, Myers, and Friedman.

Let's not get ahead of oursevles. If Myers is blocking a young player or a acquisition/signing then ya buy him out. At $3M the team has bigger problems if he's the problem.

Myers struggles have mirrored the team......up one game, and down the next. But becoming more apparent by the game, that last year was basically a 'one-off'.......another example of a player coming up big in a contract year.

They might get another season out of Myers, but I'd be surprised if he isn't bought out prior to year three.
