If people would view him as a depth prospect rather than a former tenth overall pick, he's not an uninteresting player to monitor. He has some tools, he works hard, and it would be a great story if he found his way to the NHL, so why not just watch and hope he does? The jokes are getting tired.

I believe in Tyler Boucher.

In 5 years Tyler Boucher will start his construction company and some people will still think he has a shot at being a useful NHL player.

The high draft pick syndrome.

He’s a dime a dozen borderline AHL player. Time to let this one go. You could find a bunch of undrafted overagers or guys playing in europe that are way better than he is.

Why construction...I bet he is selling life insurance to all his AHL/NHL contacts he made over the years. These guys do not like hard work.

What makes him interesting? Compared to any of our other prospects?

Tyler is not going to have to work since his dad probably put some money away for him. But he will go back to an American school and get a CPA designation like they all do

OK, but he is in fact a 10th overall draft pick, so not sure why we should try to view it differently?

I tend to just forgetting about him and only when this thread reappears do I think of him. Maybe that’s what is practical here.

This is a kid that will likely develop later on after the Sens give up on him, a la Noesen.

Otherwise, the title of the thread should be "Don't fall asleep waiting for Boucher to make the NHL".

That's possible but their early career development paths aren't really similar at all.

Noesen was more than a PPG player in the OHL in his draft year and followed that up with a really good D+1 year. He was then a productive AHL player as soon as he was healthy enough to play there. He then started getting NHL call ups at age 21/22.

Boucher has done nothing close to any of that. If he could stay healthy maybe he carves out a career in the NHL as a callup or 13th forward in a few years. Hopefully, at least for his own sake, he can put health issues behind him and give it an honest go but nothing suggests that he'll ever be an NHL player of any significance.
