I was thinking earlier that it might be possible that Stevie Y doesn’t think that Bert could be a part of the next core that competes with his incoming increase of salary and could look to move him even though he is awesome. He’s got 13 points in 9 games and is a top line winger who does all the small/right things and any contender would love to have him. A couple of downsides, he isn’t vaxxed so he is gonna miss a couple of games and is on a shorter term contract. What’s the value of Bert at the deadline this year?

Probably somewhat diminished depending what division he goes to. Is he eligible to play in Canada and they are choosing not to so he doesn't have to quarantine? Or is he ineligible to play in Canada.

Good player obviously but he would have almost no value in the Pacific because he's either missing half the schedule or all of it. Metro teams may pay more since they will cross less, but I would think his value is reduced due to this baggage. Unless someone wants to gamble we don't have any covid protocols next year, which is incredibly unlikely.

Would be funny if someone grabbed him and then played against a Canadian team in the final. Haha

He's shown that if it comes down to it, he'll miss games in order to not follow health recommendations issued during a once-in-a-century pandemic that's still ongoing.

I think any player that does that in any sport probably has more value to the team he's on than any prospective trade partner. The risk of him missing a good portion of games is pretty high...and that's without considering that this guy seems to miss time pretty regularly due to non-covid issues. His career high is 73 games in a season.

As a red wings fan I can’t imagine a team giving up the value we’d need for a guy who can’t reliably be available due to his vaccine status.

if he changes his stance I’d think he could be worth a great return. Otherwise the disconnect between his value to Detroit and what someone else would offer will make him untradeable

For the last two seasons I've wanted him on the Flames. I love his game. He's a smart, high IQ pest that is turning into a legit top line player.

If his vaccine status changed and he could cross over to Canada/USA no issues I would give up quite a bit.

To Colorado: Bertuzzi (50% retained), Hronek

To Detroit: Newhook, E. Johnson

Colorado get a top 6 winger at a bargain cap hit, and a younger, cheaper RD to replace Johnson

Detroit get a young C prospect with top 6 potential, plus a veteran RD to help mentor Seider

It's easy for Bertuzzi to resist being vaxxed since he's e on a team that isn't expected to be play meaningful games in the spring, but I wonder if he'd change his mind if he were on a team with the potential to make a deep playoff run...

To Philly: Bertuzzi (50% retained), Hronek

To Detroit: JVR, Foerster, Tuomaala

Philly get a cheaper LW option for their top 6, while also dumping JVR's contract, and Hronek gives them a top 4 RD which allows them to let Risto walk in FA this summer

Detroit get an offensive C prospect in Foerster, plus a speedy RW prospect in Tuomaala. JVR gives them a veteran LW for their top 6 until better options emerge ready to replace him

To Toronto: Bertuzzi (50% retained)

To Detroit: Robertson, Ritchie. 2022 2nd

Toronto get an upgrade at LW on a bargain contract for the next 2 seasons

Detroit get a solid LW prospect in Robertson, plus a 2022 2nd rd pick. Ritchie is just a warm body thrown in to make the cap work

I wouldn't take him for free. I love his game and he's a great player, but isn't worth the risk or headache.

If not for the vax issue I'd offer more than that

Rangers offer up Kravtsov
Sure add K Andre Miller and your 2022 1st round pick on top of it, Then maybe just maybe we can talk.

No thanks, While Newhook is nice there's zero chance of Erik Johnson waiving for Detroit. And no freaking way are we retaining on Bertuzzi he's easily worth his contract.

Yzerman isn't going to retain on Bertuzzi, And even if he did he's worth more then Robertson and Ritchie and a late 2nd round pick.

You keep giving us peanuts in return for bertuzzi AND Hronek lol. And making us retain on berts contract…your trades proposals have been insanely bad.

Why don't you show me what a Bertuzzi trade would look like?

You're obviously an expert on the trade value of players...

If the leafs were to aquire him, it would probably something like a 2022 1st (condition), 2023 2nd, and Robertson. Obviously there'd have to be some cap dumps involved

Picks are nice, but Detroit can't handle anymore LD prospects.

If Yzerman sneezes he might shoot one out his nose.

Foerster is a winger, so are the other two.

Detroit does not need wingers.
