Post-Game Talk: Two terrible teams plays on Saturday, the more terrible team loses. Habs lose (obviously).

It’s a real shame that the refs had to dictate the outcome of the game. The Eddy one was a penalty but a 2 but because Hyman stayed on his knees for an hour and had a scrape in the 5. There’s a couple more calls too but it’s don’t even wanna get into it.

Too bad Nathan Gaucher wasn't drafted by the Habs. He have 29 pts in 23 games and +19.
I wanted Gaucher badly and was mocked by quite a few. The kid seems to be very intelligent, hard working and ultra coachable to go along within his size and talent. I hope he has a fine NHL career.

I enjoy watching so many players on this team. I know I'm repeating myself but this was never the case during the Bergevin era.

Such a fun team. It's really easy to cheer for them. Win or Lose MSL team will give us a show.
You're not really repeating yourself when everyone is in agreement with what you're saying.

There's even a meme to prove it ...

For the life of me I don't understand how Pezzeta is playing over Ylonen.
It's just a waiver exposure thing. For some reason, management doesn't want to risk losing Pezzetta to a waiver claim.

How long they're going to keep this up, no one knows but Pezz is just guaranteeing his demise at this point.

I’m talking about tonight, not ‘’lately’’

They had couple of great plays, Dach had at least 2-3 scoring chances tonight by him getting to the middle. Caufield had great looks too.

Their best game in a while.
Sure the seas parted for Dach but he was left with little room to finish. Caufield missed another wide open net and continues to dish the puck to no one in particular. Suzuki has not been able to hold up play as well as he's done in the past so our zone time is very limited. Do you find that line are controlling play? because I don't. If that was a strong game by them we are in trouble because they can and should be much better. BTW It isn't all on them the D hasn't been able to contribute enough in the Ozone. It's still a 5 man game.

Head shot is a 5
Rode up his shoulder so wasn’t principal contact but the push looked bad and is two mins imo. For it to be 5 there needs to be intent and given what was happening during the play and context of the situation along with watching the hit there’s no way he meant to do that. Just my opinion

McJesus is just something else. An alien. Idk if y'all caught the mindblowing stats TVA put up : in his 512 games with the Huileux, he has his hands on 47.5% of all the goals. Lemieux had 47.9, Greztky 48.9 and Crosby 45. Just insane! He really is the 3rd best offensive player ever IMO, behind Gretzky and Lemieux.

Yup we survived the refs, What we didn't survive was the poor back check at the end of the second and Anderson's inability to get the puck deep in the third.
Hopefully we can ship his ass soon. Anderson is getting on my nerves more and more. I'd rather trade him ASAP while there's some interest, because I feel like in a year or 2, we'll have to give something along with Andy to trade him. Another great contract...

Grateful that the Habs have some exciting young players because most of the vets are borderline NHLers
Yeah it's tough sledding for them when there always seems to be a weak (playmaking) link(s) on every line once we factor in the D. It also gets frustrating for the fans when a chain of good play gets broken.

Was at the game tonight - as per usual there were as many or more Habs fans there. Place was buzzing all night, right from the warm up. Had to know that Guhle and Dach would be pumped as it’s a homecoming for them and they had a ton of family there from all accounts.

Some observations:

Weird having an Oilers home game at 5:00 PM MST, especially on a Saturday night.

I’ve been there a few times but it never ceases to amaze me that a beautiful modern facility like Rogers place is right down town and in a not so great part of the city. Lots of sketchy folks around and people “living rough.” You’re worried when you park any distance away (since there’s almost no parking there).

After the opening shift breakaway, Habs dominated the first period. Dach walked in around a few guys and ran out of real estate. Skinner was playing well, had hoped they’d start Campbell! Guhle and Xhekaj looked very good.
Seeing Cole Caufield miss completely on a wide open net had me shaken up. Then Captain Nick scores off a bullet.

Second period was awful. Eddy takes the bad penalty, which didn’t look too bad in real time from where I was, but on the replay it looked worse. Oilers PP is lethal. Habs were okay until they went down 5-3… seeing Matheson take it down the ice 2 on 1 while killing a 5-3 powerplay is something I haven’t seen in a long long time. McDavid and Draisatl went to work and now the Habs are down 3 to 1. Funny thing was even when McDavid scored, most Habs fans were cheering him too, he was diving tonight, but is he ever fun to watch.

Highlight for me was when Xhekaj rifled home the wrister from the point on the powerplay. I jumped up and yelled louder than anyone. Well anyone around me anyway haha. I think a Xhekaj jersey will be my next investment. Was proud of the boys to come back on the road but giving up the goal with 7 seconds left was the dagger.

Overall a fun game to watch. Lots of goals, saw some wonderful passing and individual efforts. Saw some diving and lackadaisical efforts out there as well. Guhle and Xhekaj impressed me the most on the back end, Kovaevic was steady while Savard and Matheson struggled. I thought Slaf made some nice plays and looked much better on the third line with Anderson and Monahan than he did when he was on the fourth line early on. Monahan seemed a little off tonight, guessing his injury was catching up with him.

I think he's the best.
