I can't imagine if you've ever played hockey in front of crowds and at a high level this could possible help in any way. You don't think they know they're bad? They live it every day.
Why are we acting like this is the first team ever in the history of sport to face boos from their own fans?

They'll either get over it and use it, or they'll be crushed, in which case if wager they don't have the mental fortitude required to be successful at a high level.

Why are we trying to coddle these guys? Did it work out under the previous coaching staff? Has it brought them an ounce of success to date?

What are we worried about here? Brady will ask for a trade? Tim will quit hockey altogether in a fit of tears?

If they blow the next game, and the barn is silent, then we have a bigger problem than team performance - we have apathetic fans.

What has happened to this team is astonishing. I thought they were just underperforming. I figured they would start to find their A games. But they look totally lost. They turn the puck over so easily and it always ends up in their net. They are bad.. bad like the Sharks, Ducks and Bluejackets. I am wondering if those three teams are the only teams we have a chance of beating from now on. This is really depressing.

Team has an overall poor hockey IQ and vision. Adapting to any sort of change is going to be difficult for them.

They've already been booed. How's it gone since then? You don't think they know they're bad?......

What I'm worried about? A place that is already one of the worst to play gets a reputation of having the worst fans in the league. The fact you think it could have a positive impact is wild to me. They already hate going to the rink. They live and breath this. You are unhappy for 9 to 12 hours a week. It's a different situation. Hard to grasp but nothing alike.

Bad mix of good players

1993 MTL and 2018 STL were excellent mix of not so good players

Florida gets destroyed by Tampa in Playoffs after supperb season
They trade 115 pts forward and top 2 D for 1 player and they now unbeatable

Its like trading Chabot and Stu for Rantanen let’s say

Chemistry is everything (see 2017 Sens run)

God I'd love to hate my job for that much cash.

I think it will, at best, separate the wheat from the chaff. At worst, it's a tacit reminder to all that this is unacceptable hockey and it needs to change or else people will start to tune out.

By the way, fans booing means they're still passionate about the team. That they still have some sort of emotional response to what's happening. Silence is what we should all be worried about. Apathy. Giving up any sense of hope. That's what kills a fan base and team. Not booing players.

Good players, even a good mix, respected vets with in prime young stars.

Just the most entitled players who must have ever played. Starting with the leader.

These guys literally thought they would be successful just because they are naturally good.

They are like high school kids who got As without studying only to get to university and fail because they think they are too smart for homework.

This team has inflated fragile egos and hates doing homework.

Apathy is much much much worse than passionate angry fans.

Let's be real.

Boos birds would be infinitely better than silence and a huge drop in attendance for the rest of the year.

If they want to be a playoff team in the future, they have to learn to play infront of passionate fans. Use the energy positively.

Maybe it's time for a bit of apathy? Not suggesting abandoning the team or anything, but....the game isn't fun to watch these days. Been a ton of players across the league (and the NHLPA and league itself) acting bratty and simply assuming our dollars will always be there, no matter what.

Maybe it's time to take a little break.

I think it's pretty clear that this team has a lot of learning to do. There was no accountablity and no expectation to play the game from the net out under DJ. That's the way Jacques coaches and that's the way all good teams play. My fear is that DJ stuck around way too long and the bad habits are something that are never going to be resolved for some players on this team. Stutzle especially is very concerning. He makes the same stupid plays every night.

Not for the players. Being terrible and getting booed nothing worse especially when you're trying to stay positive and get better.

But they're not trying to stay positive and get better. They're literally sulking and acting bratty. They need a wake up call.

They need to hit rock bottom.

Right now they don't even look like they care to try to learn to get better. You can see it on JMs face. He's so frustrated because they're still skipping on assignments. They're not even trying to learn.

Booing is loudly-expressed disapproval, the opposite of tacit.

I think what this team needs is an arena full of 6th-man coaching. "Man on!" "Wheel!" "Shooooot!"

You're saying Brady is the most entitled hockey player of all time. Why bother posting with no credibility.... Seems like a waste of time.

If that's what helps you cope with this have at it.

They've recieved apathy for over 5 years. They would get blown out and there would be no fan reaction. Quiet arena. Fans would just leave the game half way through the third.

We've already tried apathy for years under Melnyk. We were literally like only 8,000 going to games and being quiet and leaving early.

That didn't bring any success.

Other than 2-3 times, the fans haven't really booed the team when they don't give a shit.

If anything, they can probably get booed for about 150 home games before it comes anywhere close to the amount of apathy games we've had in the last few years.

So maybe we need to try booing a heck of a lot more. I see other teams boo their teams when they're playing like shit and it generally wakes them up.

We play like shit all the time and refuse to boo because we might hurt their feelings? Come on.. they need to learn about playing in the NHL. They need to learn that you get booed if you play like crap. They need to learn how to learn from being booed. That doesn't happen when you don't boo them.

Nah...Melynk is dead. What happened in those years mean nothing now.

I'm not suggesting we avoid booing to be cotton soft on the players. Frankly, I don't care about the players' feelings.

I'm suggesting a bit of apathy and taking a break to save the fans' mental health more than anything. Because no matter what we do as fans, this team is not going to improve for awhile. They have way too much to learn and it's a class of paste eaters. Save yourself the aggravation.

As a group they must be one of the most entitled.

And you're crazy if you don't think the captain doesn't have an effect on that kind of attitude.

What coping? I've been calling this shit out and warning of this trajectory for years lol.

I don't know about you guys, I still come here to vent and chat with yall but apathy has set in for me. Haven't watched a game since Dec 15, although I was there live for the Pittsburgh game and reluctantly I am going to the San Jose game on saturday.

I can't believe how smart you think you are.

I was talking to another poster about coping. For you I couldn't care less. Your Brady Tkachuk obsession is unhealthy
