Everyone on Friends is just so unlikable. Not like Seinfeld where them being unlikable is the point and makes it funny, but they're supposed to be protagonists but they're all flat caricatures of 90s twenty-something hip New Yorkers with like 2 personality traits each.

I like the Office, but the problem is that after its peak (seasons 2-5), it feels like the writers got full of themselves and were way too self-serving. The last few seasons were a drag.
The post Michael Scott era of the Office is practically unwatchable.

It wasn't the same for sure.

I will say though that I loved James Spader as Robert California, that was a good character and well-acted. but the bigger problem was that they Flanderized all the other series regulars so it became almost a parody of itself. And Andy Bernard was the most unlikable person on that show and they tried to make him the boss and a protagonist in the final season, it fell flat. Plus they absolutely ruined Pam's whole character in the final two seasons or so.

we watched it too. Surprisingly, it wasnt half bad.

Arnold's willingness to make fun of himself is what sets him apart from Stallone and the rest IMO. Underrated comedic chops.

@Gee Wally I’ve decided to start Deadwood due to your high praise.

So ***ing far, so ****ing good, but it’s only been one ****er****ing episode, go*****it.

Also started Lady Dynamite on Netflix. I like how bizarre it is.

IMO, Al Swearengen is one of the greatest tv characters of all time.

It gets better and better.

The amount of character development they destroyed was something else.

What made the show unique was how every character, and their storylines, complimented the over-the-top boss in Michael Scott in their own quirky way. Then Michael Scott left, and they just cranked every character's idiosyncrasy to 11. It went from an incredibly well written show to an incredibly lazily written show. Which makes sense since a lot of the original writers had left.

The original Death at a Funeral versus American Death at a Funeral the same (unwatchable).

If you enjoyed Fawlty Towers be sure to watch the original Death at a Funeral.

It’s so lame the way the last two years of Andy Bernard were handled. He was annoying and not funny at all. Up until then, he was annoying and funny. I loved his character.

You mother f***ing :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:er...:naughty:

If you like it and want another show to watch after you're done with Deadwood, most of the same people involved with that show ended up doing a show called Justified. No Al Swearengen, but quite a few of the other actors and writers.

Yes I'm hooked as well...

If you like the cowboy thing consider watching Godless (A Must), Hell On Wheels, Billy the Kid, and 1883/1923 YellowStone prequels.

I'm a big old school cowboy movie junkie.
If you are into Westerns, and you haven't seen the Lonesome Dove mini series (Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones), its a must-watch. Not the bullshit Lonesome Dove spin-offs......just the original miniseries. Augustus McRae and Woodrow Call are 2 of the great characters of American Literature.

That novel is still in my all-time top 3 favorite books as well, and the mini series does the book justice.

Hey thanks for sharing...I most certainly will watch!

If you watch any the shows I recommended above be sure to watch Godless or the Yellowstone prequels.

I don't know anyone who didn't love Justified. The new Justified: City Primeval series isn't bad either. Olyphant's real life daughter plays his daughter in the show.

Yeah we’ve been watching. Elmore Leonard is my favorite author so I read the book the reboot is based on a long time ago. They’re doing a good job of being faithful to the original story despite it not being a Raylan Givens story.

Jet-lagged and hot as hell outside so my wife and I shut the blinds and we’re bingeing shows all day. We just finished the Boston Marathon Bombing doc on Netflix. I thought it was well done for the most part - a little heavy handed in spots with the politics, but won’t expound on that - and it brought back that crazy time on these boards.

My 23 year old nephew is living with us and just had to get knee surgery. He asked if there was a good “old school”TV show we could watch. He never heard of Band of Brothers.

Screening starts tonight. Episodes 1 and 2. So excited to watch for the…20th? time

One of the greatest works of art in any medium. 10 masterpieces. I watch it once a year.
