Just so we're clear, in your opinion, is the criteria for the "better goaltender" in any game simply the amount of goals given up?

The better goaltender is not necessarily measured by the number of goals given up, no. It is, for me, more subjective than that. I watched the game last night and saw the other goaltender rob the Bruins of chance after chance, whether deflected shots or otherwise. Based on my observation, Rask was NOT the better goaltender last night. There are occasions where the better goaltender will find himself on the losing end - the game will be lost despite the heroic effort of the goalie. Unfortunately, that was not the case last night nor has it been for numerous games this year.

How many goals went off a same team player's foot or stick. How many goals went in due to an opposing player screening the goalie due to defense not clearing players out. How many goals went in due to a goalie's own player screening him. How many shots were not taken due to goalie superior positioning. How many goals were the result of lack of basic back checking and/or defensive breakdowns. Stats are all well and good, but they have a very long way to go when it comes to accurately painting a picture of a goalie's success or failure. Tuukka is not having a Vezina year but he has definitely had a pretty good year given the pathetic roster that plays in front of him outside of a few players. All the stats in the world are meaningless if they are pointing to Tuukka as being an issue for the Bs being a mediocre team. There are so many larger reasons for the Bs losing games. Game after game in which the Bs have won have been the direct result of Tuukka masking the crap defense.

If Tuukka plays with the intensity and focus he showed last game moving forward...we'll be fine. The PK needs to get it together.

The talk of playing for better playoff standing always made me chuckle...this is what it's supposed to be for this team...a battle. They went on a streak because the reigns were taken off and they scored 4+ a night. They've gotta finish. The adrenaline has dropped.

It needs to be less about Rask playing elite, and more about finishing 4+ times.

I'm sure they are angry and have gotten the message. I'd like to freak out, but both of those games could have gone the other way with a reasonable bounce.

Hopefully they are of the mindset that every game from here on out is only about them...the other team might as well be wearing blank uniforms. All business. Go to work. Get it done. Nobody cares who they're playing.

If this is another choke, and it looks like it is, you have to move on from this guy in the off season if you want to expect something different to happen in the tough times going forward. They need to be in a different place mentally, there's no reason to have confidence in him down the stretch.

Time to move on, hated Claude down the stretch, Rask is the next to go.

0 clutch skill, anti Thomas if you will.

Would be interesting to see his last 15 games from the past 3 seasons stats.

Not sure there would be that much interest in him at 7.5 mil
