This is a new one on me - I could google it but I just know a bunch of you will know exactly what this is, so please share with me! What the heck is "scrapple"???

It's pork parts ground up and mixed with cornmeal. A product of the Amish or Pennsylvania Dutch. Because of that it is mainly seen in Pennsylvania, where fried Scrapple is on every diner menu. Not as bad as it sounds, but an acquired taste.

More than occasionally I find ticks on my when I do yardwork at our NH house. I always check myself when I come in. Lyme disease is no joke. Although I feel I have somehow built up immunity by this point.
I have had Lyme too many times

Sometimes I get the rash, but usually I get the blown up knee that hurts like hell and can barely walk.

Antibiotics work within a day

Basically it feels like someone took pliers and is squeezing side of knee.

Also it's not just being outside....it can be your pets bringing in ticks

I remember that. Scary at first. Considering was during the Cold War. My older cousin Paul was visiting us. He was assigned to the Carrier USS Essex that was in port in Boston. He was ordered back immediately just in case. Since nobody knew what was going on.

No pantry in the new place, sadly. Decided to use this, that I already had, instead of buying a new cabinet of some sort.

Scrapple is gross. I have a friend who loves it so when we were in Amish country I tried it. It's icky, has a liver taste to it. Blech.

I personally loathe plain liver, one of the few things I won't eat. However, I like Scrapple, any kind of pate, and liverwurst, all made with liver. I guess it just goes to show, you don't know what you like until you try it.

Interesting, I love plain liver but won't eat pate or liverwurst.

My mother was French and made homemade pate by hand grinding chicken livers and salt pork, then adding some seasoning and baking it. With a baguette, it was heavenly, certainly better than the more homogenous store bought stuff.

I think "foods" like Haggis and Scrapple . . .well they fall under the "Sausage principle."
I've been forced to eat them as a wee lad but much worse, I had to watch how it is created.

which reminds me of this great episode.

Just finished building my horseshoe pits ...
I'm exhausted.
Hell, I'm not 20 anymore, not 50 anymore either.
Shower and relax the rest of the day.

Reminds me of playing horseshoes with my grandfather back in the 80s. Those things were super heavy. Good arm workout at least lol

We also had Jarts which are now outlawed.

We had the most fun though! ;)
