I love Gally but I would not give him more than a 3 year deal.

there would be teams interested for sure, but there's next to zero chance we get equivalent player in return, not for just one year of Gallagher.

Anyway, given the acquisitions so far I think it would be dumb to trade the guy. If we do, square one, we're back to Armia/KK/Lehkonen as 3rd line.

My prediction: when Gallagher leaves this team (over the next year most likely), he'll end up like Gorges did when he went to Buffalo. Broken down body, lesser role, ineffective, and out of the league within a few years.

People are, in my view, over-thinking this. Gally is a 28 year old 30 goal scorer who brings an enormous amount to the team. He is the human intangible. Short guys don't last? I don't even know if that's backed up by stats, but even if it is, I say most short guys aren't like Gally. He's a player you keep. Period. He needs to be paid what he's worth. and that's probably $6 x 5 at least in my view.
