Two players they use for the Rangers LW positions aren't even going to be on the roster this year, only remaining in the organization as nothing more than 14th and 15th forwards on the depth chart.

Kreider
Panarin
Blais
Goodrow

Is most likely how they start the season barring a breakout form Othmann or Cuylle in camp.

Something is off in the analysis if you're concluding that you'd rather have any of Seattle or Toronto's collections of LW over Panarin and Kreider. A 96 point LW and a 52 goal scoring LW, don't they provide far more value, even if it means having a plug on the 4LW?

Isn't the difference between having Panarin and Kreider as your top two LWs instead of Jaden Schwartz and Jared McCann far more impactful than having Ryan Donato as your 4LW over (hypothetically) Julien Gauthier? I feel like I'm really missing something here.

Wouldn't you rather have your LWs score 100, 70, 30, 15 points 1-4 even with that huge dropoff instead of having them score 60, 50, 45, 40 even if the second appears to be a more well rounded group? Isn't the overall body of work better with the first group even if it appears more "top-heavy" ?

Plus they ignore Fiala and by any measure Iafallo is a good 3 LW as statistically he passes for a 2 LW plus he’s a relentless forechecking machine. The writer clear did zero research and doesn’t watch the Kings at all. The Kings rating is an absolute joke.
I agree, I just didn't think this dumbass tier list deserved anymore attention than pointing out Kempe is a RW

he just did his RW one

I love that he even states jn the RW article that its more about the depth than just the top 2

So he proceeds to place CBJ in tier 4 and Toronto in tier 1

It's almost like he's constantly changing what he's valuing depending on which teams he wants to rank high.

In the previous ranking (LW) he had the Penguins in a lower tier because they had one star (Guentzel) carrying the load, then not much else. Apparently good depth scoring trumps having 1 guy and 3 mediocre guys.

Okay, so jump ahead to the RW rankings and while the Pens are now in Tier 3 instead of Tier 4, they're still below teams who literally had the same issue the Pens' LW depth had (one good player, three mediocre or bad players) despite the fact they literally have an 18 goal guy listed on their 4th line.

Like, pick a criteria, Yost. Are you ranking based on depth or are you ranking based on top end talent and who cares what they have on L3 and L4?

Utterly amazing that the Leafs somehow still managed 115 with - according to HF - poor LW, defense and goaltending.

Do you believe the Leafs' LW depth deserves its ranking?

So uhhh, what position does Fiala play?
In fairness, he did shuffle left and right all the time in MN, for faceoffs at least, though coverage wise he spent more of his time at LW. The Wild play a pretty fluid system positionally, obviously most teams do in the modern NHL, but I don't think its egregious to not have him distinctly listed.

"I want to start with a team that shouldn’t be in this group, and that’s the Winnipeg Jets."

Uh yeah, so don't put them there

Some good and some bad, I found this funny:

"Three teams, with deep offensive firepower, and very few – if any – holes at the position. Not a single winger on this list figures to be replacement-level calibre or below."

List contains Ryan Donato, who three different teams have already replaced off of their 4th lines...

How is Bunting, Kerfoot, Engvall and Simmonds in the second group? Whatever metrics being used to evaluate by Yost obviously aren’t adjusting for teammates. That’s a weak LW group.

And I like the Seattle group but they in no way belong in the top 3.

Apparently we use Lemieux on RW now. He clearly has zero interest of understanding of how the Kings line up. He’s obviously seen some of the comments as he has a weak explanation of how some wingers can play both sides. Unfortunately if you do any real research he clearly has not checked which side half the wingers in the league actually play on most nights.

It's the Toronto media, doubtless they're appealing to two groups within LeafsNation who constitute it's greatest readership: Fans who also love hating the club and fans who love hating every other club to the point of irreconcilable cognitive bias.

There's another subset of fans who see through the ruse and who can articulate where we as a club in the present are and moving forward (or not)might reasonably be. But inevitably, whether it's other fanbases or those within our own, we're seldom recognized...Too boring I suppose.

There are good journalists out there. Not as provoking in terms of pushed or pulled theatre though. I don't know if half of the not so good ones are (Leafs') homers or not. Like anything else, if it walks like...talks like...it probably is. And for the life of me - in 2022 - I don't know how we can call some of these characters homers or professionals and reconcile the two without raising the question:

If it's your job to know the game and the league and the team, how do you constantly come up with these cringe takes if you're actually a fan of the club you claim to be, yet constantly underserve it?
people still havent noticed that TSN is 95% click bait, there;s a reason they do the things they do. its because of the reaction it gives off and now they article will likely see 4x the amount of clicks.
do your self a favor and stop going to TSN or Sportsnet.
There are plenty of other good places to go to.

OK first off Mikyehev is not, never has been and likely never will be a top 6 forward a player with a career high of 32 points is not a top 6 forward.

2nd the Leafs LW depth while not quite as bad as people say it is because I do believe they ha2the 1st and 3rd line LW covered in Bunting and Engvall.

The fact still remains there is a major hole at 2nd line LW they aren't tire 2.

They get away with it because RW and center are so strong but LW has holes.

Appreciate the caution, Arthur.

Stopped going ages ago, well before Cherry was fired from CBC.

I occasionally click on there sites on two days: Draft Day and July 1st/7th, whatever day is the beginning of free agency. All totaled they probably get ten clicks a year from me. And really, given the other outlets, there's not a lot of reason to even provide that...The drama of the days is my undoing, lol.

I stick to NHL.com capfriendly on draft days and FA
prohockeyrumors is my usual go to.

TSN is decent for Scores but The Score app replaced that for me
I just got sick of seeing the same videos with a new headliner

Another worthless article out of Toronto. Ehlers and Connors are elite, I would take the 2 of them over the 4 Toronto scrubs any day.

Winnipeg Jets are in tier 3 with Connor and Ehlers as their top 2 LWs?

And NYR in tier 3 with Panarin and Kreider as the top 2 LW?

If they're only looking at the 4th liners, why is Toronto in tier 2 when they have WAYNE SIMMONDS listed as the 4th liner? I guess the only thing that matters is the #3 LW.

Also, Marchand isn't even listed for Bruins, did he switch to C?
