Tsn Blackouts Mendes Wants Your Feedback

So, I'm curious do you get the blackout running the app on other devices like your phone or a tablet? Does it make a difference if you're using WiFi vs your phones mobile plan?
So toʻnight I can't even find the game on the app on my internet TV. I am watching thru a bell streamer. I can find the game on the app on my tablet and it seems to be about 30 seconds ahead of the cable tv

What’s a Bell streamer, maybe that’s the issue.

A bell streamer is a device you get from Bell to enable a non internet capable TV to get TV without being hardwired. It let's the TV connect to my wifi. On this TV I see tsn listed as a channel on the TV guide. On the internet enabled TV, I use the tsn app.

So,

Your smart TV, not even showing up let alone showing as a blackout,
Your Bell streamer, no problem
Your cell/tablet, no problem. (presumably off wifi)

So, the issue doesn't appear to be related to your internet connection being geo identified as out of market, rather the specific device you're viewing on.

My best guess is Bell stores MAC addresses in a database to identify the geo location, and somehow your Smart TV got misidentified as in a different Geo location. Alternatively, it could be something to do with the app used by your smart tv, I know at least in my experience, Roku tends to be a bit flaky with the TSN app (more about crashing) and some TV's have very minimal updating of their OS and apps

So are you on bell Fibe then,?
you’re in Ottawa local region I take from other posts.

Why are you using the TSN app on new 4K TV, when earlier you said you have cable on old TV (with Bell streamer)
Why aren’t you using the cable on new TV, as opposed to TV app.

A lot of smart TV apps suck, especially non high end ones. I’ve seen Netflix crash for people on smart TV app and have to restart a lot.
Had them switch to Roku or Firestick, and problem went away.
Sounds like TV app.

....maybe having games blacked out isn't such a bad thing these days?

Mankind should Black out all of Sens November and just play Erik Karlsson hilites and on Dec 1 the Captain does a 3 hour show on “what happened in November”

And it’s like someone coming back from a month long trip in 1984, you have no idea what they did, where they went, or how much fun they had. They would debrief you verbally for an hour or two, and then when the verbal debrief was done they hit you with the “”I have pictures” and then you’d pass around about 200 photographs and go over the exact same things you were just talking about for 2 hours and the person would be saying “that’s the monkey owner I told you about” “that’s me in front of Mont Fuji” “this is the guy who made the BEST Vietnamese coffees” and that was considered a really good night.

Ignore it or agentstooooge
lol good one agentstooge, there is a couple of them, and never bring any stats, or relative to other teammates, just bad defense. You provide stats, it’s ya buts it ignored. They’re very entertaining funny fellas.

Horrible evening for me. Boston Pizza, Turtle Jacks, Fionn MacCool's, Moxie's, and a couple of local sports bars, were affected by the regional blackout. Wild Wing randomly had the game on, but we couldn't order any food because they discontinued a lot of food items and didn't update the physical menu's. We ended up going to a Kelsey's across the street because on the phone they said the game was playing but when we got there the blackout hit them too.

Only latter half of the first and the 2nd period. Going back to the ever reliable reddit streams for games

Eff the NHL, they're out here encouraging those of us that don't live in the city our team plays for to go illegally stream the games.

If someone has Ian’s twitter or email, they should send them this.
Why is this such an issue this year.

Did any of the bars say if they’ve attempted to get this fixed.

I wish I had the energy/composure to ask the server. We were told at BP that they had the game, but the server that told us on the phone didn't know about the regional blackouts. After that my friend and I were just taking turns calling whatever bars in the area to just to a spot because we both wanted to just watch the game together.

I don't have twitter and can't find mendes' email, but if anyone can DM me a way to find it or the email, I'd love to follow up

Ahh didn’t notice that
@bicboi64 you better mention you weren’t in Ottawa.
Bar would need the out of market package, but don’t see why a bar wouldn’t invest in that.
Just sent an updated one and included that I'm in the GTA. I was surprised that Boston Pizza of all places didn't have it (multiple locations).

Boston Pizza (and all the other places you visited) should presumably have SN+ Premium to get all out of market games. If they were hit with a regional blackout on that channel, then they'd likely be showing up Ottawa based and have it available via TSN 5, no?
