Player Discussion Troy Terry

Terry also took 7 years to get to star status. Zegras will be working on his NEXT next contract before a player like that is a significant part of the team.

Terry is also the only Ducks 5th rounder to be an NHL player going all the way back to Pavel Trnka. One could argue Heed, but that was after he was released and eventually found his way back to North America as a free agent, and he still barely cracked 100 games.

There are zero legit top line forward Ducks successes past the early 1st round other than Rakell (whose 1st line status appears more and more to be a function of playing with two HOF players) and Karllson(who took 6 years and 2 new teams to get past 3rd line tweeners) in 2011 going back to Palmieri (who also took forever and a trade to finally progress). How many of Comtois, Jones, Etem, DSP, Holland, Wagner, and top 10 pick Ritchie would you trade for Terry? All of them?

Up to 12 points on this embarassment of a team. Hope Verbeek has the Brinks truck ready with the cap news. Everytime he's on the ice he makes an impact. Having 12 points on this team is like having 20 on a decent team lol

What physical qualities does Terry possess? Is he fast? Physical? Great hands? Passing/Vision? Checking? Shot? I'm trying to figure out how he scored 67 points last season. He clocks in at 6 feet, 185. Maybe he's gained a couple pounds since that NHL.com stat line? I guess if I had to pose the question like I'm explaining it like you're 5, what qualities justify him scoring as much as he does?

Hands, shot, vision. Decent skater and has really improved at controlling the puck.

I honestly think he’s taller than 6 feet and he’s pretty fast to go along with what everyone else is saying

Yeah I don't know exactly how tall he is, but he definitely looks taller than most of our forwards when he's on the ice.

In addition to what the others have said he is very quick and shifty. Along the boards he does a great job of winning the puck with quickness and then being quick and deceptive to get away from traffic. Once he has the puck its hard for defenders to get it back. In the offensive zone, he is really solid at maintaining puck possession but also has the elite skill, vision and shot to be an effective point producer.

One thing with Troy is he isn't at all a one trick pony. He's able to enter the zone and move around the zone in a variety of ways. defenses can't necessarily hedge on him doing one thing or another. It's all part of how he thinks the game.

So in terry last 86 games he has 82 points…. I assume he’s a safe bet for ppg player going forward…. He’s doing this with minimal talent around him… what’s his ceiling for points? Can he hit 100?

Stapled next to a prime Zegras and another 20+ goal winger I wouldn’t doubt it problem is we don’t have any high offensive dmen coming up outside zellweger but who knows what he’ll be

Troy's passing has been display more this year. I think at the end the day he is more of a 25-35/35-45 type of guy.

Ducks Insta on Story posted that Terrys 15p in first 11 games is a franchise record.

This seems crazy to me - not a tremendously high number through 11 games, but a nice record for him. Hopefully he'll start to break more and more.
