Sam Reinhart for Hanifin. Let's get this done boys.

This I would be okay with. Hanifin is amazing, but we are loaded up on left D and Reinhart is a future number one center with amazing hockey IQ and those are hard to acquire. He would look great next to Aho, and Slavin/Fleury/Bean is still great defensive depth.

Yep. Reinhart is a much better example of what the Canes would be looking for in a Hanifin swap. Potential 1C who fits the current age group is the Canes biggest need. He would also be a great fit for Peters IMO.

No thanks on Nylander.

Sometimes you don't need to make things up . No one knows what Trouba contract demands are . But it is logical to assume he is asking for a contract the Jets management are not comfortable giving him or the deal would be done . If I were to say I prefer Davidson over Trouba does that mean I think Davidson is better ? No . It I prefer the guy that is trending upwards and has always been humble . Plus he signed a cheap deal . Trouba value is at a all time low because he is not signed

So, I suppose teams should be trying to trade for Gaudreau, too. He's obviously at an all-time low in value and isn't humble because he hasn't signed a cheap contract.

I'd be good with Hanifin-Reinhart, but I'm also somewhat irrationally high on Reinhart to begin with.

I think I'm the only one that isn't high at-all on Reinhart. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something...but the notion that he's a future 1C or even worth Hanifin seems laughable to me.

In regards to Hanifin and Laine, I think it comes down to whether you'd rather have a possible Norris candidate, or Rocket Richard contender (talking ceiling potential here). Not a decision you can make until you can remove "possible" or "potential", and you know your team needs at the time. Both should be studs, neither will move any time soon.

This is very much true, and realistic - but in this case it's hard to escape the feeling that both clubs would be better off in the near term if they make the trade now.

Seth Jones and Ryan Johansen were both traded with question marks on their sides (Yes I know Johansen was already a #1C, but he was/is loaded with risk).

I agree, Carolina certainly needs a young top line forward that can score, sooner than later. And while I absolutely love Laine, probably moreso than Hanifin, I struggle to pull the trigger.

Since Trouba is going to need to be re-signed and will be making more money and Hanifin will likely be the better player I am guessing that this deal would require a significant addition by Winnipeg for Carolina to consider it. They probably are not looking to trade Hanifin so it would require a deal that makes Carolina believe they are a better team because of the deal obviously.

He seems pretty good at hockey.

Didn't say he wasn't. I just don't think he's got definite 1C upside...which is what I'd need to move Hanifin.

I see Reinhart topping out at that same 1/2C tweener level like RNH has and I think Rask will where they can center a top-line but nobody would ever consider them to be ideally a 1C rather than lower in the lineup.
