Trouba for Hanfin. Can it happen? I doubt Carolina is looking to part with Hanifin. But everyone is available for the right price, and Trouba (plus?) should definitely be in the ballpark of the "right price". I'm guessing most would suggest that the Jets add here. If so, would Roslovic be enough? Roslovic and a pick? The jets will likely have to over pay to pry Hanifin away, and I'm fine with a realistic overpayment. So what's a realistic trade for Touba and Hanifin to swap teams?

Another thread from the Jets boards which shouldn't have been brought here.

There's no point in doing this for Carolina. This is what the Jets want for Trouba. It's not happening.

The longer it takes for Trouba and WPG to agree on a new deal, the more it diminishes his value

This is just not true. Lots of quality RFAs simply take longer to sign. Like when Benn held out in training camp for his first contract after his ELC

If we do end up trading one of our D eventually, we'll be looking for a forward, likely a centerman in the mold of the Johansen for Jones deal.

No deal to be found here on this one, doesn't fit a need for us.

Well considering at least one Jets fan is demanding Ryan McDonagh + for Trouba, I'd say the Canes gets off easy here. I expected it to also involve Carolina's first rounders for the next century.

Hanifin, Faulk, Fleury and Bean... What an amazing young D core. Why would they disrupt just to acquire Trouba??

I really don't think Francis is interested in trading Hanifin at this point. Especially for another defenseman.
concur, in part because...

they are stacked as above + also RD with Pesce, Murphy
In other words, no need to deal, Canes hold all the cards here..

As to value, let's be fair
Trouba is not chopped liver.

He would be a solid down payment.
But Carolina would have to have enough incentive, including that Hanafin is on ELC and does not have to be exemption protected, while Trouba does.

The LD trouba fetches, with pick swap on both sides favoring NY, is McDonagh.

Don't think a better LD is made available.

If the Jets are serious about acquiring Hanifin, I'm thinking Laine would be the name the Canes ask for. Even then, not sure the Canes would pull the trigger.

yeah with that many D prospects, younger Ds and proven Ds, you would think its just a matter time they trade some for some help in the top 6. Considering they already have Rask, Lindholm, Skinner, Aho, teravainen, these canes have one of the most promising team to win a cup within the next 5 years or so. What an incredible quite job, the GM has done. And they never tank, even when they could.

No it doesn't. It didn't hurt Drew Doughty one bit and if the Jets were to trade trouba, there'd be 29 teams lined up with their best offers to land him.

Only reason I can see is to balance the LD and RD. Only Faulk is RHD.

If none of the three lefties is comfortable on the right side.

As long as one of them are, no reason for Carolina to do a deal.
