Speculation: Trotz: "If we don't get it going, then I'm going to start our rebuild plan."

Trotz would have been better served to say “retool plan” rather than “rebuild” which is the kind of word that puts this forum into an absolute tizzy.

They’ve basically said the existing core (FF9, Josi, Saros, ROR) and the expensive new guys (Skjei, Stammer and Marchy) aren’t going anywhere but everything else is malleable.

And yes, that absolutely means it’s not a rebuild in the genuine sense of that word…but the explanation after the headline is what is more relevant.

You can say that a retool doesn’t fix anything, that it is changing the cladding when you need a new foundation, that’s certainly up for debate. But there are names that will draw interest in trades…Carrier, Sissons, Novak, Fabbro, Lauzon, Parssinen, Tomasino, McCarron, etc. I really think this is going to be the “path”…really the only path…to changes should this poor start continue.

I don't know why but I feel like O'Reilly to Winnipeg makes too much sense if he's willing to waive. He's been exactly what they've been looking for lately

The rebuild plan is to keep those guys around during development of the younger players. They won't need that cap space untol the young guns mature anyway
Why they don’t kept Asksrov instead of Saros for the rebuild plan? I mean, the moment Trotz decided to sign those guy, it was to winn. I saw those signature more anchor than nothing else

I maybe the only one but I don't think Barry Trotz is a good GM.

As said before Nashville has been building a team that’s not good enough go contend, not bad enough to draft game changing players

Who could have ever guessed it’s not the best plan??

But good thing Nashville has such an amazing farm system we’ve been hearing about for years….

I can feel this, the Flames have been doing this for majority that I have been a fan.

Signs saros for 7 years while dealing the young hot goalie prospect and a month later he's talking about rebuild. Lol this should get him fired if anything

As others have said, I think this is just an awkward motivational ploy.

The next logical step here is firing the coach, and then seeing where you are at with a new one.

Rebuilding after signing Skjei, Marchessault, and Stamkos to big contracts with NMC would be difficult. Forsberg and Josi also have trade protection. Saros' kicks in next season but his stats are down again because this teams defense is really bad.

Kindof painted himself into a corner if he wanted to "rebuild". Guess we could move RoR, Nyquist, and sissons. Noone really wants Lauzon or Carrier and trading the young guys that Bruno doesnt want to use doesnt really accomplish anything.

Personally, really hating Bruno's lineup decisions this year. Id start there and bring up Milwaukee Admirals coach

Trotz is massively overrated and I think after opening their pocket books so wide this summer, the only rebuild they'll consider is one of the management suite. The GM and coach will go before they ever agree to start trading talent for futures.
