Trent Frederic

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Not to mention said player was having a terrible year. I think Bowman missed out on Rantanen and then got desperate trying to bring in any player with a pulse (even injured ones)
This and previous regimes left us completely lacking the trade assets to win a bidding war for Rantanen. I’m somewhat impressed that Bowman would even try, let alone apparently get close. We’ve been talking about Frederic as a smart option for months and the only question was if Boston was going to fall out of the playoff race and make him available. Calling Frederic some kind of “desperation” or fall-back position after failing to miraculously reel in Rantanen is seriously disingenuous.

So this is who we spent the Broberg compensation on... I wonder how Frederic fits in, I wonder if he re-signs.

When Broberg gets ~250 games under his belt, kazowie, it's finally going to kick in and the denial will evaporate.

Holland gave two 2nds for 13 games of Athanasiou.

It's an Oil tax.

Paying for retention ended up pretty dumb. Aside from our prayers now for healthy McDavid and Drai, really hope Frederic and Kane are going to be ready to add physicality for a playoff run. Needs lots of stars to align
If McDrai are out for a number of games I wonder if that extra cap space will come into play carrying a full roster including recalls?

Management must know the Ides of March is upon them.

He's having a down year but he is an awesome player. I watched a lot of Boston and always thought him and Debrusk would be great additions to our club when Boston decided to start the rebuild. If he can play to the level he was at the last couple years he is a great addition.

7 games? We are a playoff focused team. The trade was still good. We have the inside track to re sign him.

This is a Tampa style trade. Pay extra for what you really want in terms of age and style instead of compromising.

Nothing indicates that we’ll be the favourites to re-sign him.

I said a couple weeks ago that there’s a decent chance he won’t even play for us this year and now that is seeming more and more like a real possibility. News that he’s at least a couple more weeks out is very concerning.

Looks like a horrible use of the Broberg compensation on a guy that won’t even play for us. I like the player but trading for a seriously injured pending UFA is beyond stupid.

If he doesn't play would there be any kind of compensation that we could get? Seems like there should've been such a stipulation in the trade? Anything like that in the CBA @Fourier ?

Donkey trade by Bowman not doing his due diligence on his injury

Giving shades of AA trade where we gave up two 2nds

Or he has his eyes set on a homecoming in St. Louis.
Or a cheaper Sam Bennett lite option in Florida with his Rat childhood friend. If Bennett chases money instead of no-tax sunshine and winning.

American, East Coast NHL career, viable state-side options with affinity and prospective winning situations. Oil need a playoff run and frankly a healthy Frederic to even know what the fit looks like.

At least last night we found out Frederic is even alive or in Edmonton. Unless AI. ;)

Strange that theres so little news of when he's ready other than it being a continuing two week moving target. In short the synopsis was already way wrong and the amount of time till he was healthy is much longer than what was originally mentioned.

Given how little Frederic is going to play here this season seems like we gave up a lot to get him. If he ends up being helpful in playoffs I guess is the whole gambit.

If it's a high ankle sprain he might be 100% to start next season. Not bad for whatever team he's playing for next season.

If an extra week or two let's him play at a higher gear in the playoffs, then the Oil are going to give him an extra week or two. The regular season just isn't a priority for them (for better or worse).

I don't understand why we traded for this guy when he has one of the worst lingering injuries you can have. He's going to be a shell of himself, mobility-wise, even if he plays.

And we spent even more for retention.

It's been a pretty long injury window already for him. He got injured on February 25th, so its a full month tomorrow already. Add another 2 weeks to that, and he'll have been out 6 weeks. That isn't a minor injury.
That's well within the normal timeline for a high ankle sprain. If the playoffs started today he'd probably be playing.

Or you know they're letting it actually heal up fully so he's at his best for playoffs, instead of rushing him back and increasing his risk of re-aggravating it. As someone who works in the sports medicine field I always find some of the health related takes on here so bizarre.

Well we won last game, so defecating on the way that we won, as well as ruminating on possible scenarios where we almost lost, became tiresome.

So people... the usuals... are just browsing around for other threads where they can inject their ray of sunshine. ☀️🌧️🌪️💩 ;)

Ah yes, the infamous google doctor McJadeddog. Never actually worked with a sporting injury in his life, but has all the answers on diagnosis and prognosis of every injured Oiler.
