Again you found the right thread.

I'm pulling for both of em - just funny how they're both struggling but one is public enemy #1 the other gets praise for the smallest of things.

You brought Coyle's name up. Ghost I think you called him.

You put so much stock in the hitting stat but for some reason giveaways and takeaways should just be ignored, smallest of things like you said.

What did you think when during the 1st shift in Calgary Frederic turned the puck over on 3 consecutive possessions?

9th in goals
10th assts
9th pts
last in +/-
20th in takeaways
10th in give aways
2nd hits
15th blocks

Is that a guy you go 4/18 with? Hope he rebounds maybe? Maybe it's just a 35 game glitch?

But his xgf.32 x 48 + ham sandwiches/60 is unreal!
the Bruins did win the advanced stats 2019 Stanley Cup vs St Louis.

I did and he has been.

Hit stat was in response to folks saying he didn't have a physical game.

I didn't see the Calgary game.

I think Frederic gets somewhere around 4x4 on his next deal but it won't here. They need Jones, or Tufte, or Wahlstrom to stick with a physical and responsible game to let him go before the deadline though. I don't see Sweeney weakening the current club for picks.

If so I'm surprised it took this long. The stat is readily available on Hockey Reference.
It's not. Earlier in the season I mentioned that Coyle led the league in takeaways among centers. He's still leading the league.

I think it's a very useful stat. Whenever I hear about a player the Bruins might acquire I look up his career average in hits and takeaways. Players who work hard usually do one or the other frequently. It gives me a sense of their 'compete' level.

It's a really good stat IMO that I haven't paid much attention to but probably should.

The fact that he's the only forward on the team with a positive differential in giveaways/takeaways is impressive. I know the numbers aren't there this year but from the games I've watched (which this season is most of them), Coyle has still been strong in possession and is good at getting inside/underneath puck carriers and striping them of the puck.

Pasta gets shit on constantly for turnovers but he's that creative high-risk player and gets so many touches of the puck when compared to say a Frederic who doesn't touch the puck anywhere near as much and still has a lot of giveaways, especially compared to his pitiful takeaway numbers for a guy suppose to be a big strong reliable forward.

Did the waterboy get stuck in Edmonton traffic on the way to the rink last night? The Bruins could have used him. :naughty::sarcasm:

In all seriousness, I have said this before, but Frederic is way too passive to be playing wing on this team with how the Bruins want their wingers to forecheck. Sweeney wants to re-sign him, but that doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. Adding the fact that Frederic is playing the way he is in a contract year, the Bruins should move him before they lose him for nothing in free agency.

That was then.

This is now.

Freddy was a +37 over those two seasons also. Not a team leading -13.
Yeah better dump him then. Only thing that matters is a smaller sample size because it’s recent.

Also better continue using the season long plus minus as gospel, when he was -7 in the first four games of the season. Because that tells the true story.

This is now: since Sacco took over Frederic is a -3 tied with Lindholm. Carlo leads the team +2 and Lorhei is last -7.

Also FWIW +/- is a pretty worthless stat for individual players.

34 games is a small sample size? OK.

So you think Frederic can get you a first-round pick plus. Wish you were a GM. I think I would take that.

I wonder if the Blues would consider moving one of Neighbours or Bolduc for Frederic

Not true at all.

Coaches all use it.

And great to see Freddy getting so much better under Sacco. Only a -3.
You hear hockey coaches talk about it all the time but again the keyboard wizards have deemed it useless

I think it’s funny two good seasons mean the guy is going to trend up and deserving of a big raise to extend, but sucking for half a season in his current contract year is a “fluke” or not ok to base anything off of that. Just pretend it’s not happening

I like him and again extend him if you want, I get the allure of what he could be, but if you can deal him for a 1 and something it’s an absolute no brainer. Bruins apparently see him as a 3rd line guy or they would have elevated him by now.

I wonder if the Blues would consider moving one of Neighbours or Bolduc for Frederic
Going by people here Neighbours is a 30 goal guy. Can’t see them being that stupid but sign me up
