Do you think he's playing well this season?
Not to start, but he's been a whole lot better since Sacco brought some sanity back to the team.

He's played 9 games without a single shot on net this year. That's an amazingly bad stat.
Same as their #1 center who's also on their #1 PP. Coyle's got 12.

I mean Frederic is 4th on the club in shots on goal. Don't think Frederic shooting the puck is the problem with this team.

People cherry pick some stats with absolutely no context to continue to hate on this guy, what's new.

Lots of vitriol for a guy who is paid like and plays like a 3rd liner when plenty of guys are way underperforming this year

I'm not a hater, but I expected more from Freddy. I just don't see him providing anything more than what we could get from guys like McLaughlin. Kastelic is outplaying him. I like what I see from Koepke more. If Freddy is indeed coveted by other GMs, I would certainly be seeing what I could get for him to improve the team.

At this point you move him if there is interest for sure. They have enough bottom 6 players that if they can get someone to give up some assets for him you do it.

I still like the guy but it all depends on what contract he's expecting.

I'm a big Kastelic fan, LOVE him on this team. That said, he hasn't scored a goal since October. If that were Frederic whooo boy.

I wonder how they value him. Wish Jones or Tufte panned out, would make dealing him a whole lot easier as they could plug that hole.

It would simplify things a bit, but I think you have two 3rd line guys in Geekie and Brazeau if you move on from Freddy. Jones or Koepke can replace Geekie next year assuming they don't re-sign him.

The Difference is Kastellic plays with fire and energy every night, so even without scoring he still makes an a positive impact and he wasn't brought in to score. Tfred unfortunately has games where he's a no show.

There's a huge difference lol.

Kastelic had a total 14 goals in his 144 game career prior to this season. Frederic had 18 goals last season and 17 goals the year before that. Frederic makes $2.3 million and Kastelic makes $835k. Frederic is expected to be to a 20/20 guy. Kasteltic is expected to physically wear teams down, drop the gloves and play a 4th line shutdown role. Fredric plays 14 minutes a night and gets regular PP time. Kastelic plays 11 minutes a night and has seen 4 minutes of PP TOI all season.

I get it and agree generally - it was a response to "Kastelic is outplaying him".

Problem is right now those two 3rd line guys are already playing on the first and second lines.

Games where Frederic scores a point (9 games, 11 pts., +3)

2 shots per game, 4 hits.

Games without points (23 games. -16)

1.44 shots per game, 2,61 hits.

Home/Away splits

Home - (17 games played, 4 goals, 5 assists, -3)

1.82 shots per game, 3.35 hits

Road - (15 games played, 1 goal, 1 assist, - 10)

1.4 shots per game, 2.6 hits.

This is a player who shows up basically once every 3 games and mostly only on home ice. He hasn't scored a goal on the road since Game 1 in Florida.

The guy sucked the first 17 games this year depositing 3 points. 8 points in the last 15. He's heating up but his stats are skewed down badly because of the start this year.

Could add in "many games".

Is Trent worth more to Boston as trade collateral than on the ice?

Easily. May be the most expendable asset and one other teams will covet due to the desperate cravings for powerforwards. Even if he rarely plays as one.

Depends on what the parameters are comparing the two.

Fredric has 2 more goals and 1 more points than Kastelic, but he's also got nearly 100 more minutes of TOI. Kastelic has 30 more hits, 7 more blocks and significantly less giveaways. Kastelic also is 54.1% in the dot whereas Frederic is limited at FO because he's not great at them. If I was asked who has more impact on a game just looking at these numbers, I'd say Kastelic. He does more with less time than Frederic does.

If Friedman is to be believed, then God bless whatever dumb sucker GM takes Frederic and his 5 playoff points in 3 years off our hands for some sort of half-decent return.

Don't hate the guy, just don't think he offers enough, especially in crunch situations, and the Bruins desperately need some valuable trade bait. If he can be part of a good deal, I'm all for it.

I notice Kastelic virtually every game whether he scores a goal or not.

I rarely notice Freddy unless he scores a goal (recent fight a notable exception).

IMO Kastelic adds to the team in a number of ways. Freddy not so much.
