If that idea was on the table, what realistic return would Provorov bring?
He sucks so I dont really care but im guessing some GM would move a 1st +
If that idea was on the table, what realistic return would Provorov bring?
Well extending Sanheim and trading Provorov with 2+ years left *should* get a better return and better results than trading UFA Sanheim and keeping Provorov.
The Weegar contract undoubtedly was a huge help in expediting Sanheim’s extension.Good deal for both the player and the team.
Also shows how much out to lunch the majority of the fan base is with how players feel about playing in Philly.
TDA 2 assists, +3, xGF 42.25%DeAngelo 2x5
Sanheim 8x6.25
Game 1 TOI:
DeAngelo 23:46
Sanheim 21:13
Should’ve traded for Shattenkirk.
And Ellis will never play again.Good for Sanheim.
At first glance, it makes the team look bloated on defense with decent money to good but not great players.
But DeAngelo is only on a 2 year deal and Provy has 3 years left, so the next GM has options.
TDA 2 assists, +3, xGF 42.25%
Sanheim 0 points, xGF 21.17%
So we know who's overpaid.
Yes it is... Risto alone tanks it immensely. It'll start at 27, go to 34, the last couple seasons he should still be a solid D-man, and by that time $6.25M won't be an overpay for a 2nd pair D-man even if he slips a little.
Does tell you he thinks Torts isn't the monster HC that some make him out to be.
Given that top D-men are getting $9-10M, if Ellis ends up on LTIR, Provorov, TDA, Sanheim, Risto is not the worst top 4 you could have, all between 26-28, and you can either let TDA walk, or trade Risto in a couple years as Attard compete for a top 4 slot.
As far as trading Provorov, they'd probably wait until the summer after they see how York and Zamula progress.
And Ellis will never play again.
Would be easier if he never actually played for us. But in the 4 games he did play he was our best defenseman. What could have been...I honestly don't even think of him as a Flyer. It's just playoff cushion to be exploited whenever the Flyers get there again.
And creating roadblocks for the new GM that's going to have to rebuildThis is honestly feels like San Jose years ago when they basically signed everybody of note they had to long term deals. But at least San Jose had a finals appearance to hang it’s hat. Even when you’re a contending team you’re taking on a big risk with that type of contract outlook. But at least you can somewhat justify it short term when your team is legitimately good.
The Flyers are essentially taking on all the risk long term with little to no short term benefit.
Or Fire Risto into the sunWe have to pray like a motherf***er that the next GM is the one who trades Provorov.
