Will never happen, but if Ellis returns.

That's just under 30 million next season for this defense core. That's basically what the Avalanche are paying, and Tampa is well short of that.

Risto, Provorov, Sanheim, Hayes, Couturier, Farabee all on long term deals. What a core! Great team building. Great cap management. Great flexibility.

Give me a 5 year deal for Hart next.

Nobody loves to try & cheat a rebuild more than the Flyers only to make the hole deeper in the long run. Obviously beyond that mentality you have poor player evaluations & poor understanding of the age curve/salary cap.

We don’t have single person in the hockey ops side that would make a good manager at McDonalds let alone a sports franchise in a major sports league.

It’s insane that a major corporation like Comcast lets these doofus’ continually bilk them & their company year after year.

He took comfort in the idea Ristolainen will be traded in 2 years with $2 mil retained. That leaves him 6 good years! (You do have to chuckle that signing Risto made signing Sanheim even more likely because of their purported elite chemistry.)

Sanheim isn't a boat rocker, so I'm not terribly surprised he didn't test UFA, even if I think that was the best career move. Hopefully, he's still a plus contributor in 4-5 years when this team might begin a turnaround. Or not. But I don't expect his prime years to be utilized to a winning product. I mean they can't even give him PP time and utilize his prime years as is.
Alternative hypothesis: now that master negotiator Chuck’s value obliterating measures have come to fruition, Sandy is gonna run PP1 for the next decade.

Only Sanheim and Farabee of those 5 should even be considered for long term. Coots' contract will be biting us in the ass when it really matters I can feel it. As soon as G left town they should've started blowing it up wholesale. No G, no Jake why even bother keeping any of the current core?

That's ok. I feel like Comcast continually bilks their customers year after year.

Decent pieces in the bunch I listed, but together it makes a pie of what exactly? Nothing that's close to winning the county fair.

There is no planning here, just individual decisions without looking forward toward future implications.

Trade Ellis' LTIR for cap relief...even if you get little to nothing back...not that I think it's possible

Well extending Sanheim and trading Provorov with 2+ years left *should* get a better return and better results than trading UFA Sanheim and keeping Provorov.

It'll start at 27, go to 34, the last couple seasons he should still be a solid D-man, and by that time $6.25M won't be an overpay for a 2nd pair D-man even if he slips a little.

Does tell you he thinks Torts isn't the monster HC that some make him out to be.

Given that top D-men are getting $9-10M, if Ellis ends up on LTIR, Provorov, TDA, Sanheim, Risto is not the worst top 4 you could have, all between 26-28, and you can either let TDA walk, or trade Risto in a couple years as Attard compete for a top 4 slot.

As far as trading Provorov, they'd probably wait until the summer after they see how York and Zamula progress.
