He’s doing everything in his power. Which is great. But need a better guy to play with Sanderson.
Ya I'd agree with that. Even when not producing, he doesn't cost the team quite like Hamonic does at times.Amadio is different to me. His details are really good. He is a smart player. Not putting up a lot of points but I like him on that 3rd line.
He's getting cratered almost every time he's on the ice. Advanced stats support that he's essentially been the worst defenseman in the league this year. Multiple times he handcuffs the team by throwing grenades up the boards which often result in sustained pressure by the other team. He is a number 7 D that is dragging down our top pairing, regardless of the recent team results.
Is it a team game or is 7-2-1 all because of Hamonic?Advanced stats supported Patrick bring our #1 Defenceman - it’s a team game
No they didn’t. Just because advanced stats say some one is good does NOT mean they’re saying that that player is “the best”.Advanced stats supported Patrick bring our #1 Defenceman - it’s a team game
Hammer will undoubtedly take the 3rd pair role, and the 3rd pair will get markedly worse.Zub has now been out 3 and a half weeks with a fractured foot. Usually, that's a 4-6 week injury, so earliest we should expect him back is the 21st, but more likely we'd see him after the break.
When he does come back, what happens with Hamonic, he's the whipping boy around here, so I'm sure everyone would like to see him out, but Green likes him enough to play him on the top pair over JBD, so that suggests JBD will be the odd man out,
However, JBD and Kleven have been playing really well together, but in pretty sheltered mins. I suspect Hammer will take the last spot, but who knows...

They are also one of the most sheltered.Other than experience, there's nothing to justify Hamonic taking JBD's spot when Zub comes back in. Kleven-JBD are one of the best 3rd pairings in the league right now.

Don't get me wrong, they are doing great in the mins they're given, but Green is making sure they aren't given more than they can chew.
Probably can graph how good he looks vs minutes played .. where would the pinnacle be .. the optimum looking good / toiMaybe Hamonic will look better in sheltered minutes. I still see teams skating and moving the puck towards him, and him being serviceable isn't going to last for 82 games.
Was nice to see him actually get the puck on net last night, thought that was one of his better aspects last season

Did they?He and kleven looked absolutely terrrible together in sheltered minutes
I don’t remember them starting very good. Kleven was scrambling. The numbers are what they are. I don’t remember watching that but if I’m wrong I’m wrong.
Well, goaltending wasn't great when they were together, so that might colour memories a bit.I don’t remember them starting very good. Kleven was scrambling. The numbers are what they are. I don’t remember watching that but if I’m wrong I’m wrong.
The start of the season before Zub got hurt was only two games +2 mins of a 3rd game, Fla and Mtl, so not much of a sample, They got clobbered in Florida, but had respectable numbers against Mtl despite the team not being great.Kleven and Hamonic were bad to start the season from what I remember, but when Zub came back and they got paired together again they were totally fine.
I think we were all kind of expecting Kleven to regress again but he didn’t. That’s how I remember it anyway.
Reason I'd like to see JBD play more is it'll improve his decision-making. Kleven has been given the benefit of the doubt despite some awful pinches, but hey that's a part of the development curve. Just wish JBD would get some more leash as he can get better but with Hammer, what we have is kinda all there is.I don't think Hamonic vs. JBD moves the needle much, if at all. Fine with either in that role but would like to see both kept fresh and rotated in. I think Hammer makes better decisions that sometimes don't work out from lack of ability, but JBD is more capable in some way with less savvy decision making, and it basically balances out in the end. Coaches seem to always prefer the former, so i'll bet on Hammer staying in the lineup, at least to start.
