THe win really doesn't matter at this point. All that's important is that the top offensive talents perform well.

rest will all due respect is just inaccurate or silly. Half the players in the league are not 2nd or 1st rounders but the best are for the most part.

And many stsrting goalies weren't even drafted? Just completely not accurate. This is like Fox News reporting here. The Tim Thomas' of the world are rare as are the lundqvists and rinnes

We can debate ancient history forever, but I'd rather talk about drafting goalies since it's actually relevant. Reading comp must not be your strong suit, since I never said half the players. I said half the starting goalies weren't 1st or 2nd rounders.

Markstrom, Varlamov, Bernier*, Ward, Brodeur, Schneider*, Lehtonen, Pavelec, Luongo, Crawford, Dubnyk, Howard, Fleury, Rask. 14 goalies taken in the 1st or 2nd round. 2 of them might not even be starters. The rest were taken later, or undrafted, as in the case of Bobrovsky, Niemi, Hiller, and yes, Thomas if he manages to sign somewhere. You have to go back to 2011 to find a goalie drafted in the 1st or 2nd round who was a Vezina finalist.

The point is, you're as likely to find a goalie outside of the first two rounds are you are to find one inside. Personally, and this is just me, I consider that a waste of a pick.

Can't wait to see Lindberg/Kristo in training camp. I can't believe the first preseason game is a week from tomorrow. It's been a long summer.

On our backup: Biron's five-hole is the biggest joke in hockey, every other team knows it...

On Lindberg: cannot wait to see this kid in training camp/pre-season...we're stacked at center though; I could see Richards sucking right out of the gate, us sending him home and Lindberg coming up...

I could see someone being moved to the wing and Lindberg playing center if he shows he's well suited for that role.

Had this team won the tourney?

Forwards:
Chris Kreider - JT Miller - Danny Kristo
Pavel Buchnevich - Oscar Lindberg - Jesper Fast
Michael St. Croix - Bo Nieves - Anthony Duclair
Adam Tambellini - Andrew Yogan - Steve Fogarty
Josh Nicholls - Kyle Jean - Thomas Spelling

D-Men:
Brady Skjei - Dylan McIllraith
Calle Andersson - Conor Allen
Ryan Graves - Samuel Noreau
Charlie Dodero - Troy Donnay

Goaltenders:
Scott Stacjer
The Mission

And if so - how would this have remotely mattered in the long run?

Lindberg is a smart two-way player who is great at faceoffs. His potential future in the NHL lies at center.

i bet Miller plays wing, Boyle gets traded since he is an UFA before season starts.. Lindberg the 3rd line center and 4th line goes to Moore...

Richards Stepan Nash
Kreider Brassard Zuccarello
Miller Lindberg Kristo (kid line)
Pouliot Moore Dorsett

(Hagelin Callahan out to start season) Boyle Powe traded, Asham and Haley 13th 14th forwards.

Miller needs a year in the A at least

In fact ill venture to say all three of fast Lindberg and kristo are ahead of him in this camp

Boyle and Richards both will not be back next year neither will Pyatt or powe

Provided Stepan doesn't hold out, the Rangers have the luxury to be patient with Lindberg. If he comes in and wins the spot outright, well, then it gets interesting.

It seems like Lindberg and Kristo are a bit more polished than Fast at this point. I really think Hrivik is a major darkhorse to grab a spot in camp. His size, strength and ability to make plays and slow the play down is going to add a nice dynamic to the roster.

You may want to remember games like this next year when we have our annual debate about using a high draft pick on a goaltender.

I don't think the organization is opposed to it, which is really all that matters. Clark said in an interview that they had Vasilevsky rated very high and would have taken him if they had the chance. I think they're hoping a blue-chip tender falls into their laps before Hank leaves, and if not, they'll try and trade for one.

For some reason, I always think of Hrivik as small, but he really isn't, is he? 6'1"-6'2"?

I'd be really surprised to see Hrivik make the jump out of camp, but I'm excited to see what he can do this year. I think he'll see time in the NHL, I'm just not sure if it'll be right out of camp. He could be a real solid player for us down the line.

6'1 and around 200lbs. Though I've seen reports of him being 6'2.

Gotcha. You know, with the team's dropoff at LW, I wouldn't be shocked to see him make the team. It's a little crazy how many young forwards we have that could push for roster spots.

You could be right on Hrivik, but re Fast I haven't seen any of the games and I haven't seen much of Kristo, but I doubt it.

To put it like this, when the pre-season games starts I think Fast, in the role he is put, will fit in much better while Kristo, in the role he is put in, natrually will get alot less space and I would be very suprised if his play isn't changed drastically.

So you think Kristo is thriving at the lower level because of the added space and the fact that he is able to control the puck more whereas Fast's game will transition better because he doesn't "need" the puck? That's a very distinct possibility and I hadn't though of that. Good point, Ola.

Depends on how skilled Kristo really is. There are plenty of players in the NHL with very good puck skills/puck possession, despite the "limited" space available. Not all of them are superstars either. Kristo could be talented enough so that the limited space for him isn't a big issue, and I suspect the real coaching moment will be teaching him when to try to make a play and when to make the safe play.
