I've been debating a longer post about Lias for a while because the narrative that he's some guy who totally lacks skill but makes up for it with brilliant hockey IQ doesn't line up with what I've seen personally.
The first thing that stands out to me is that he has fantastic hand eye coordination. For example, look at his stick handling in the plays in the clip below and at 3:21 in the highlight video:
Where his hands seem especially valuable and effective are around the net, where he regularly makes highly skilled plays to score. There are a ton of examples of him doing this beyond just the clips below:

The second thing that jumps out to me is that his work ethic and willingness to go to the dirty areas of the ice is off the charts. In the videos below, for example, you see him engage in and win multiple puck battles against different players in different areas of the ice on the same shift (essentially the forechecking work of two players), allowing his team to keep control of the puck and ultimately leading to scoring chances

Additionally, he has a very good shot that can beat pro goalies from a distance

So personally, my view is that Lias is a guy who gets it done with high end hands, especially around the net, shooting ability, and incredible work ethic moreso than IQ. I see a lot more Adam Graves than Derek Stepan. I think Lias is a tough guy to evaluate because his skillset doesn't stand out as much as someone who carries the puck all over the ice, but I do think he has a core set of high end skills / attributes that drive his production.
I would be surprised if he turned into a point per game player, but his production (for example, he scored at the same rate in the AHL as JT Miller, Anisimov, and Zibenajed but at a younger age, and those guys all produced 50+ point seasons) indicates to me that he has top 6 / 50-60+ point potential. Additionally, if you watch his AHL highlights you rarely see him use his shot, so I wonder if the shoulder injury didn't hold him back a little bit in his AHL stint last year too. In my view, his scoring potential (driven by his hands, work ethic, and shot) in combination with excellent defensive play and leadership characteristics, make him a very valuable prospect, even if he is a relatively average skater and doesn't have quite as much offensive upside as some of the other top prospects do.
