I don’t remember Stolarz much when he played for the Flyers - but he’s a fun watch. Massive frame, but borderline over aggressive.

Reminds me a little of Bishop sometimes.

2 dudes that I honest to God have never heard of get a 2nd rounder.

Trent Frederic is my go-to example of how you can know a pick is bad on the day of a draft.

Their Director of Amateur Scouting (Keith Gretzky — the jokes write themselves) literally said into a microphone that same night they don’t think he could be a top 6 player. He went 29th.

Question for non-Canadians: Would you cheer for a long Leafs playoff run if they added Former Flyers Scott Laughton and Brayden Schenn at the deadline?

IIRC he was on a deeper US team so he probably did see a bit better usage when he went to college & his offensive numbers got better. So even at the time of his draft year his statically profile wasn’t a great bet to end up at even that.

Edit: Actually looking it up it wasn’t a deep year but they did bring three guys from the outside the program that all went first round (Mittelstadt, Brown, & Yamamoto) to their showcase games that year. So he did get knocked down for those & his overall production was just modest anyway.
