The analytics say he’s generally had a good tenure with Chicago and is performing decently given his role and supporting teammates.

He wasn’t good by the analytics his last year in Columbus & obviously even on the good end was never a legit top tier defensemen despite having that rep in the hockey world. But he has rebounded since being in Chicago.

So that’s more so been the issue & not whether he’s any good or not for the most part. Obviously Florida getting $2.5M saved off his cap hit suggests they’re recalibrating their expectations for him. He can probably be useful in #2-3 role which he should be in Florida.

Not sure I still would have done it but I can at least see logic in it now that they shaved money/caphit off the deal. Florida obviously has track record under Zito of taking these type of players on the backend & squeezing more out of them than their previous destinations.

I think it's a solid deal for both teams.

Totally expecting Briere to blow it this trade deadline. Ristolainen is a bit harder to move, but if he gets any sort of decent offer for him, he has to move him

He had two really good top-line type season in 17-18 and 22-23, but yeah…. He’s pretty much been a solid player, and is a good add IMO for Florida. We’ll see how it goes, but if nothing else, he’ll add stability to that d-corps which is needed.

Edit - I also hate the way the designators in the figure below (1st line, 2nd line, 3rd line etc.).
