If only we kept Zborovskiy and Graves.
Speaking of Zboro, he signed with HC Sochi and is in the KHL now. I liked Graves after his Memorial Cup run, but he's just a tad too slow for the NHL level. I think Gorton got great value in that trade bringing Bigras to Hartford. Bigras was always a highly skilled defenseman, but he got derailed with concussion issues.

I am. What's the point that people saw Lindgren play this week? Some people saw Lindgren play in college, and some people saw Rykov play in Russia. I am sure the number of people who saw both play regularly in this group is 3 at most.

There is no way to say which one is better at the moment.
It wasn't about who is better in an objective sense, but like, it's fine. I'm learning to let people choose their own adventure. glgl

Why no way? Because Hajek is sold to us as the McDonagh replacement by Gorton who got fleeced for McDonagh and Miller?

Hajek has yet to play professional hockey yet, and even his junior stats are pretty mediocre for a good prospect. Rykov has been very successful in pro hockey so far. Very close in ability, but one of the two is proven, the other is not.

Miller's upside is the same upside Day had. Being ''athletic" doesn't make you good at hockey. He has a starter-kit, but he's much rawer than you'd like for a first round pick. Way over-drafted player. If there's any "no way", its putting Miller above Rykov and Lundkvist.

check your facts, the Liborator played in 8 AHL games over a year ago.

The players have to buy themselves out of their contracts. And they would do that to sign a two-way ELC where if they're in the AHL they're making like 60K? Come on.

And why include someone like Jensen? He refused to sign his qualifying offer so he could go to Russia, then refused to come back again this year because he wasn't guaranteed anything (when this is a GREAT time to win a spot on the team). He was a marginal prospect; that he has played well in the KHL doesn't suddenly make him some stud that we need to bend over backwards for.

what happens in Russia, stays and decays in Russia. If a player buys out his KHL contract, you think Rangers can't find some way to reimburse him for that, perhaps a nice car that is not Zaporozhets or Lada.

if Gorton wanted Jensen, he should have shown more killer instinct and gotten it done. Jensen was our forgotten asset and Gorton basically lost it, instead of capitalizing on it.

A nice car? Yea, I’m sure Dolan will get right in that. But first he has to give Staal 30% over market value for his CT DIGS so he can waive his NMC.

I don’t think you realize how utterly ridiculous you sound right now.

Edit: Dolan. Not Doan.

Rykov is ahead of Lindgren because no one here has really seen Rykov and this place loves em some magic beans.

There, I said it.

There seem to be conflicting reports on Rykov. from some clips I saw they made him play waaaay back as a defensive defenseman in an almost comical way, I never seen anything like that done before and I don't think that speaks greatly about his offensive game or his backward skating.

I'd say several people have seen him on youtube in a clip.
A couple probably caught a game or two.
Maybe one dude watches em all.

The overall point stands.

So your opinion is the only valid opinion, right? No one on these Rangers boards, including our European posters, don’t see games of said prospects.

Are you a f***ing kidding?

Do you not know how easy it is to stream games? Have you yourself watched game video/highlights with anyone on these boards?

What a stupid post....

Reading some of these posts on how none of our prospects really stand a chance to make an high level impact is quite depressing. I'm gonna definitely reserve the right to remain optimistic on guys like Chytil, Kravtsov and even a 18 year old 6'4" 207 pound dman like Miller that they have that potential to be that.

Yeah, sure, you can TRY to circumvent the rules. What if you're found out? How severe do you think the punishment would be? Young prospects don't often buy themselves out of their deals, and when they do I'm sure there's a lot of scrutiny applied to the situation from a lot of parties. And you didn't even address the fact that if these guys buy themselves out, unless they actually make the NHL then they're playing on an AHL ELC salary which is not much at all--especially for a guy like Rykov who isn't even on his first KHL deal. I mean, really, ask yourself--why don't we see a bunch of prospects buying out their contracts every year? There are plenty of valid reasons, setting aside the asinine suggestion that we do an under-the-table deal.

As far as Jensen--f*** me. I can't believe that there are still people out there still acting like we lost some great asset. He was a 4A player which is why it wasn't a big deal when he left and why it's not a big deal that he still hasn't come back. Who f***ing cares. He had five professional seasons and he couldn't crack an NHL lineup. Could he be a late bloomer? Maybe. Could he be one of the dozens of guys who can't do dick here and then go onto become stars in the KHL? More than likely. I'm not losing sleep over it and I honestly don't know why anyone would. And finally, he's not "lost"---we still own his rights and will for as long as we want them.

The Rangers aren't allowed to do that. It's as ridiculous as someone else saying James Dolan should buy Marc Staal's house above market value to convince him to waive his NMC. It amazes me that people honestly think these things are a possibility. In a salary cap league, a team can't just go out and reimburse a Russian rookie for buying out his KHL contract. That type of stuff results in fines and possible loss of draft picks.

A 21-year old is not going to take a million dollar loss to sign a contract with a max of 925k. And yes, it's close to a million with 2/3 of his remaining contract to be bought out plus missing out on the salary he'd get this season in Russia. We've gone through this with Kravtsov, and now Rykov. Players don't waste that much money just to get out of their KHL deal.

why is a billionaire Dolan not allowed to buy a gift for his future young players?

I am not losing any sleep over Jensen, but this was a perfect time to bring him over the rebuilding year and new coach and Gorton failed to do that.

CBA article 50:

50.2 Player Salary, Bonuses and Actual Club Salary. (a) "Player Salary." The only allowable form of compensation permitted to be paid to a Player shall be Player Salary, as set forth in this paragraph (a), and Bonuses, as set forth in paragraph (b) below. No other type of compensation, in any form (except only for "Traditional Hockey Practices" as set forth below), shall be permitted to be provided to any Player.

Dolan can't do that because it would violate the CBA in a bad way.

Jensen said he didn't want go come back because there was no guarantee he'd play in the NHL and he had shown what he could do in the AHL. That was literally what he said. That is his logic--what could Gorton or Quinn do to convince him other than promise him a spot, which would be astonishingly ill-asvised, set a terrible future precedent and probably not even work out, leading to a messy situation? I mean really, the reason Jensen isn't here is because he's wvideevidnot confident enough in his game to win a spot on the merits. Can't fault the front office there.

Andersson has that Derek Stepan thing going on.

He's not exactly "skilled" and he literally can't skate, but points just keep appearing from the f***ing sky.

I had checkered opinions on Stepan over the years, but he was better than like, what, 90% of draftees?
