Hajek and Howden played like I expected them to. Very exciting.

Andersson still skates the same. Zero improvement there. that is not good.

Gettinger as expected cannot skate with even this upgrade in talent.

Ronning didn’t notice

Chytil looks huge skates great did very little. Needs to be better.

Keane disappointing

Let’s see tomorrow real hard to follow with these angles

I missed last 40% of the game, but my take is: I was mostly disappointed, not sure if it was rust or poor system/coaching but it was a pretty boring game.

I couldn't figure out who got hit in the face with a puck, was it Lindgren?

I was most impressed/surprised by Fontaine, this guy was physical, he was a leader, he was solid all around and looks like an NHL player already.

Hajek looked really good also looks NHL ready.

Gettinger, I liked him, he was fairly smooth for his size and his Brian Boyle like size and reach were very noticeable and effective. I think he will be an NHLer in a year or 2 and probably a pretty solid one.

Chytil did not dominate, that was disappointing.

Meskanen looked pretty good

Andersson is weird, I would expect him to kill penalties, but I don't think he did and I don't think he likes to skate fast, is it laziness or he has some pain in his leg? I was looking closely I did see one time he sprinted he had solid speed and acceleration, but most of the time he is gliding or walking on the ice.

hopefully next game is more entertaining.

Well... hockey is hockey. Fun to watch no matter what.

Howden and Hajek looked great to me. Best two players for NYR on the ice. If that continues, that trade is looking stronger and stronger. Other guys had their moments and Chytil had some times that he looked pretty dominant, but Howden and Hajek were consistently good.
Howden was always such an underrated prospect, watching the game a little late.
Crawley, Hajek, Fontaine look good
I liked Stukel
Gettinger, Ronning, Lindgren with meh games
I really didn't even notice Day and when I did, it wasn't good. Doubt he's an NHLer
Chytil and Andersson played as expected
Keane wasn't too good either but I still really like him, he has a lot of potential and it shows. Think he puts up a show tomorrow

I don't think you can really say anything about systems or the like, because there is not enough time to coach one into the players. With this tournament, the coaching is pretty much "score goals, don't let them score" They had what...two practices? One yesterday and one today? Not really enough time to get players into a rhythm/system. You're pretty much coaching on the fly and just going with what works.

Doubt Gettinger is anything really, all he really has is size and a good cycle game
Chytil likely didn't try too hard. He's already a top prospect, doesn't have as much to prove as some other guys. Likely didn't want to risk an injury
Lastly, I've said this before but everyone got mad at me but Andersson isn't a good/fast skater. Lias is the complete opposite of lazy so it surely wasn't that. He likely didn't want to risk injury either

Gettinger was used on the PK so that means he already is a very experienced and effective penalty killer, that goes a long way for bottom 2 line player with tremendous size. He was also a captain on a good team and prior to that wore an "A" for 2 seasons. He also produced close to a point per game in the last 2 seasons in OHL while not playing on the top line. Curious what Edge thinks of Gettinger.

He can fight too, this fight was pretty epic:

They're probably waiting until after TCT to give him an AHL deal. How full is that roster going to be? Not that it matters, I guess, because they rotate players all the time down there.

What annoys me is that the other team seemed to be better in sync and have a semblance of a system going. The Rangers kids...didn't.

Pretty hard to get a read on things othewise with that camera angle. Saw most players do some good stuff but it's a pretty weird tournament in general and I never particularly expect it to be a predictor of much

yeah, what I think our team was also lacking is chemistry, there wasn't much there yet.

How long have our kids played together? Theirs?

Hopefully Brodeur starts the long journey towards leading the NYR to their next S.C. lol, no ill will on the kid cuz of his dads mistakes/loyalties

I would love to see young Brodeur win us a cup and fatso is cheering his heart out for the Rangers and as young Brodeur is about to lift the cup over his triumphant head, Sean Avery shows up and blocks his view.

I forgot to mention Meskanen. He looked pretty solid. I watched him a lot when he didn't have the puck (in the O zone) and he seemed to always find the open areas. Solid shot... nice goal and almost another one. Lindqvist had some nice offensive moments but I noticed he gets knocked off the puck pretty easily and not very good in board battles.

I'd like to see Hajek and Keane together. Split them to PP1 and PP2, but 5 on 5 I'd like to see them work.

Lindgren and Keane looked out of sync and I think Hajek was with Crawley most of the time 5 on 5.

I agree on Lindqvist. That's not a good sign, IMO. Hopefully training camp will be different.

I agree that Keane-Lindgren pairing needs to be split up. Maybe put Lindgren down and pair him with Day. Put Gross with Keane and see what happens. I thought the Hajek-Crawley tandem wasn't bad. They were just overused, IMO.

IMO, Gettinger is in a group of players that have some intrigue, but a lot of work to do to take the next steps and become NHL players.

I’d pu names like Ronning and Day in that category as well. All 3 have elements that, if polished, could result in an NHL career.

But I sometimes think we tend to forget that when you get out of the top 10 or so prospects in the organization, most of the remaining players are going to be closer to wildcards.

The fact that even have a shot is a good thing, it shows we have organizational depth. But I’d be cautious about getting too up or down about kids before they even have a chance to start learning at the AHL level.

As for Gettinger - the challenge will be the speed of the pro game. Not just from a skating standpoint, but from a processing standpoint. Gettinger has always played a meat and potatoes type game, he gets where he needs to be — in close, and he’s hard to move from that spot.

The test as a pro will be whether he can get to those spots and how he reacts when a big, 27 year old defenseman tries to move him.

I don’t think his straight line skating is bad, but I’ll be curious to see how he does in situations where the play is a little more east-west.

I've been saying this since the pre-seaso/n last year.

Anybody have a box score for this game

Not going to lie, defense and goaltending were my two biggest concerns coming into this tournament and I feel that last night did little to alleviate those concerns.

I know there’s been talk about this team being stacked, and I guess I’ve always been hesitant to agree with that opinion.

When I look at this tournament roster, I see about half of our top prospects missing. I see arguably the best center depth of any of the teams competing, but I don’t see the depth on the wings and defense. If anything, I see more unknowns on this roster.

Hey guys missed the game how did they...
