Just because a guy is playing 4C doesn't mean he'll get 6 minutes a night. 4C isn't the same in 2018 as it was in 1988. If Howden is ready, they can find ways to get him 13 minutes a night whether on the PK and also moving up with other guys in certain situations.

Cirelli is a great example. Datsyuk was a 4th liner his first year in the league. Rangers aren't going to tank so to be competitive they'll need 12 productive forwards. If Howden can help, he'll get the time.

Surprised Brodeur isn't getting a look. LOL. Nell made some great saves but he let in some stinkers.

Everyone on this board knows I'm not a Day fan BUT he had a very good 3rd period in the OZone. If he's going to be an NHL player that's how he needs to play but every shift.
 
Wait, why are we using Cirelli as a comparable here to say its ok to start Howden on the 4th line? I am seeing he played 51 games in the AHL last year. What am I missing?
 
No one is upset about the game last night. It's okay to have a gripe or two when the team gives up seven or eight goals.

That's a lot of goals.

It says more about people they wanna plug their ears and say nananana overreactions rather than be honest about things. Idgi.

Bringing up examples of guys who were used on the 4th line on paper vs. how they were developed I guess? The whole "rather play 20 minutes a night than 11 in the NHL"?

Yeah, but he didnt start on the 4th line in the AHL. He played the majority of the season in the AHL, presumably getting bigger minutes (can't find TOI for the AHL), and then got the call up later in the season. That's a big difference and not really an argument for someone starting their rookie season on the 4th line with limited minutes and limited linemates.

Every situation is unique and so will Howden's. They don't have to limit his minutes on the big club and the Rangers actually have decent depth. He won't be playing with McLeod/Holland all the time. It could be Vesey, Fast, Lettieri, Spooner, Namestnikov. And of course if he plays in the AHL he's getting top six minutes. Easily. If he starts with the big club, they can easily find ways to get him 12-14 minutes a night based on PK, DZone draws, protecting leads, ending periods, etc.

Would've liked to see Ronning play with Chytil or Anderson but it's a start. Gettinger had problems keeping up with those guys yesterday. As I said earlier in the week, as a board we shouldn't give up on him if he starts in the ECHL.

That’s how most of the games are that Traverse every year, with such little time to prep it’s easier for teams to score than defend properly
 
The comments on the official Ranger twitter feed are hysterical in every sense of the word.

Some guy wrote something along the lines of “defense and goaltending are still problems”

Traverse City is fun to talk about, but not one player or team used it as a springboard to success the following season. The purpose is to make sure these kids are ready for camp rather than using camp to get ready for the season.

All of them had some rust and timing was off. No surprises there.

did the Rangers have a feed yesterday with commentary? Or was it the same as the Fox Sports Go one?
 
Is anyone else having an issue with foxsportsgo? I can't get the game to come up on my TV or on my computer. Worked fine yesterday.
