Traverse City Prospect Tournament 2018 - Part II

I'll take it a step further and say that I don't see Chytil as a NHL center. I simply do not see him handling the position at all and I think it's a waste of his talent.
Based on what? Not trying to be argumentative, genuinely curious. I think, all things considered, he'd be the most desirable player at center.

Look, it's a very fair thing to debate. Personally, I don't think he has the defensive acumen, the positional ability, or the ability to take the physical beating the position brings. I really like his talent as a top six winger, but I think shoving him into center is a bad move. I get the whole "let's play them at center until they prove they can't" logic, but I simply don't see him having much success there.

Fair enough. It'll be interesting to see. I think his rangeyness and playmaking would be nice at C, but I honestly haven't seen him regularly enough to speak to his defensive acumen with any authority.

I'm not going to lie, but 1/2 of my analysis in that regard is just gut feeling when I watch him play. I think that @Edge is largely of the same belief that I am, here.

It's like you've read my mind. Those are the items that repeatedly stand out when I watch him, especially the bolded items. He doesn't appear to see the ice as a center, IMO.

The defensive play is going to be an obstacle for Chytil, but at 18 playing against men, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Also, once he fills out, I think the physical aspect will improve as well. That's assuming he doesn't follow the Artie Anisimov rule and skate with his head down every shift.

Will he be a dynamic guy in his own end? Probably not, but I have no reason to think he can't play the position right now.

Better execute all of the players.
It's an embarrassment the way they played. I think just shrugging it off like it's nothing and taking issue with anyone who says that isn't really fair.

Nobody is under any allusions as to what this tournament is, the importance, or lack thereof, that it has, or the myriad of other things that have been discussed ad nauseum . It still doesn't change the fact that most ppl would agree we had a decent team, and they didn't even remotely play up to their abilities .is it on the players? The coaches? Not sure. It's still friggin embarrassing.

Give it a damn rest. No one wants to hear your over emphasizing of the PROSPECT TOURNAMENT combined of Junior Players, AHLers with some that are on the older side, ECHLers, and Invites that will likely be in the ECHL. Button it up.

Haha..You just seem to have things all figured out, don't you smart man.

Instead of continuing to make yourself look like a fool, how about you read the article I posted?

Na.. I doubt you will read what actual players, GM's and FO executives have to say because clearly their opinions and the way they actually run NHL teams mean nothing to you.

After all..You're the smartest person in the forum :)

Did I miss something Inferno? Was i Quoting you? No I wasn’t, so don’t come at me. I didn’t quote you because I respect your opinion and you tend to be more rational. I never once said in my remarks that the Prospect tournament is meaningless or worthless. But I did say 4-5 say tournament not going well in which you are throwing a lot of young new faces together for the first time is not the end all be all. The way some here are overreacting, the Rangers might as well have told the young kids who participated to not even show up the NHL camp. That is the damn absurd part.

No. I dont have it all figured out. But I am not going to start bitching like you and completely go off the deep end over a Prospect Tournament. If anyone is a fool here it is you. You who is making a big stink about a prospect tournament that was 5 days long.

Oh and I read your article from 10 years ago. The part you put in bold does not enhance your argument by any means. If anything it contradicts it. The bolded part simply states that the prospect tournaments are helpful in getting the young kids more experience and continuing to evaluate them. Nowhere did it say it is used to determine who is going to make the opening right roster or not. Or where they will play. That is determined in the NHL camp and Preseason games against a mix veterans and prospects.

Just put a cap on it already. The tournament is over. The Rangers system is not in dire trouble because they didnt play well in a short tournament with no organized system to draw from.

I honestly don't know who you're quoting since I have like 20 percent of this board on ignore. I assumed it was me since your post came right after mine. If there were posts between them then I didn't see em. From my pov it looked like u we're yelling at me.

I'm on the fence about Chytil as a center --- mainly because I think some of the aspects of the position (positioning, defensive responsibility, the constant friction) don't necessarily play to his strengths. However, on the wing, without those responsibilities, I think he might be able to shine. None of that's meant as an insult, nor should moving from center to the wing be seen as some kind of demotion.

You know I can't help but look at this roster and wonder what if the Rangers had been able to move up and take Clayton Keller in 2016.

No Inferno I was not quoting you. Its a different guy who has taken this conversation to a tiresome level of annoyance.

Were good

Same goes with Andersson and, in lesser case, Howden!!

Keeping in mind, that the concept of Chytil playing the wing isn't really a new one.

Even in his draft year, he spent significant time on the wing and there was some uncertainty as to which position he would play.

I feel like the Rangers put him at center and so that's where a lot of fans on here first saw him. As a result they tend to view him as a center first, but that's not always been a clear cut designation.

Kind of feel like the Rangers almost never do well in this tournament. Havn't gone back and looked at past results but i just felt like its been a long time since they met expectations at Traverse.
