It's just so great, to see the three we expect to crack the opening day lineup, absolutely shine in this tournament. I'm just giddy with excitement. And I know that each day from now on, as we get closer to opening night, I will need to keep my heart medication close by.

We are in for a great ride this year watching these kids, who can only improve with time and make the Rangers a playoff team again.

For the guys at work today, i try to record the last game but can't upload it until maybe 6 PM as i am not near a computer until then.

Yesterday it worked like a charm, even got the breaks removed if someone is interested message me
When you do record it I'll definitely need it since I'm not gonna get to watch it. Doctors appointment for my kid.

He was never considered a slow skater. Some of his teammates from college have told us, and he himself has said, skating is one of his strengths. Maybe he finds open space so effortlessly, that it looks like he isn't moving that fast.

He has been compared unfairly to Makar due to them being finalist for the Hobey Baker. And so naturally, Makar would make anyone look slow.

How much faster could he have improved, over the summer?

I mean I’ve watched him a ton and his skating is clearly better than it was even 4 months ago. His edgework is better his acceleration his first step. He clearly worked on it. It’s really noticeable imo

It’s funny. In past years, when we have had less talent there, I would have agreed with you, because I would’ve been wanting the Reunanens (and to a lesser extent, Robertsons), who I think showed quality flashes, to receive the validation of winning.

After watching Kakko, Kravtsov, and Fox yesterday, I couldn’t care less; I’m happy with what I’ve seen. :)
Agreed. But I can't help but think how different our opinions would have been without Kakko's clutch game winning heroics.

Yeah, like @Ola mentioned with Fox, it's his quickness in tight spaces that make him so dangerous. It's not something you'll see used to make highlight reel plays, but he's incredibly talented at evading forecheckers and finding seams for outlet passes. The one thing he and Tarmo did so well this tournament was knowing when to make the safe, smart play to keep our transition game alive.

It's his ability to just read the ice to just constantly facilitate that will make him successful at the NHL level, especially, when he'll be handing the puck off to more talented forwards. Other than that, he knows how to read his seams well and pick and choose the spots where he can be aggressive to create mismatches for opposing defenses. It's different from someone like Skinner who just went balls to the wall each shift and ended up hurting us more than helping.

I strongly disagree.
There were quite a few times guys just blew by him in footraces. It didn't hurt him because it seemed to be to loose pucks rather than in 1 on 1 situations.

It's not a big deal, his hands and iq are off the chart and his agility is very very good...but hes not all that dissimilar from trouba who is kinda slow too.

I haven't seen the foot races you refer to. But I have seen interviews of his teammates and Adam that say the opposite. We shall see soon enough.

That’s what Leetch was.

I honestly am thrilled with what Gorton has done to the right side of the D. Maybe the hardest thing to get accomplished.

Trouba 25
DeAngelo 23
Fox 21

Just an absolutely ridiculous right side. Sure little luck there as 2 of those guys would only agree to deals with us but to have that talent at those ages on the right side of your blueline for this next window is unreal.

I said it at the draft after watching Kakko this past year against boys, men and everyone in between, he was the best player available in the draft.

I am a Capitals fan and man am I jealous. He is gonna come in the league and make an immediate impact. Ranger fans are so damn lucky.
We got tired of watching everyone else get all the elite talent. :DD

It seemed like there was tension between the commentators. When the second period ended and they were just about to go on break, the one guy said something about roshamboing the other commentator for something.

I strongly disagree.
I agree with this statement. In fact, he was won many foot races in games against fast opponents. There was a race against CBJ where he outskated their player who could absolutely fly. He beat him to the puck by two steps and got good positioning because of it..
