I like the line on paper for sure. That could be a pretty fast and annoying line to play against.

Yeah, I kind of like it also because as a 3rd line, they can go against weaker competition and not have to worry so much about defensive responsibilities.

Chip Alexander ‏@ice_chip 11m
Tlusty a little wobbly after hit along boards from Woods.

Chip Alexander ‏@ice_chip 13m
Little dustup in scrimmage: Blanchard and Komisarek drop 'em.

Michael Smith ‏@MSmithCanes 7m
Tlusty taken off for evaluation. Muller asked if he was OK. He said he felt fine.

Michael Smith ‏@MSmithCanes 13m
Correction on scrap earlier: it was Komisarek and Blanchard. Just had another scrap at the other end of the rink.

Michael Smith ‏@MSmithCanes 34m
Jared Staal just laid into Gleason. Friendly slash from No. 6 afterward.

Michael Smith ‏@MSmithCanes 32m
Harrison decked Boychuk. Physicality picking up.

Sounds like they aren't holding back. Hopefully Tlusty is ok

I guess the abundance of competition is pushing the guys. That's good to hear as long as no one comes out with an injury.

No surprise training camp is intense already. There are a ton of guys vying for just 5 or so spots on the roster. It's a good thing. I just hope no one gets injured.

I like the intensity and couldn't care less about the four guys fighting, but a line should be drawn at some AHL nobody running your top line winger.

Bs. First of all no where does it say he "ran" him. Second of all, it's the first day of training camp. Goes without saying to keep your head up. If muller says he likes it, I don't have any problem with it, he even mentioned a couple of guys maybe didn't get the memo on what's at stake and credited those who did. May have been a side comment on Gleason and tlusty, in terms of their approach today.

BS. Nobody want's to see some AHL nobody possibly hurting a first line winger, I don't care how much intensity and competition you want in camp.

You can try to spin it however you want, but nobody wants to see stupid ****ing **** like that.

How is Woods an AHL nobody if he's only played 2 games there after signing his first pro contract and this is his first pro training camp? He's one of the guys wanting to make an impression on Muller and company. Intensity is up because that's what the coaches want, sometimes things happen. I bet the coaching staff made a couple mental notes after the hit/scrap. Woods is doing what he has to do.

^ This 1000%. I'm certainly not in favor of guys hurting each other, but this is hockey and this is training camp. Jiri will be just fine. But you cannot tamp down the intensity, especially when that characteristic was mostly missing last year (not always, but often). Let the kids play and let them challenge for attention and spots on the team. Woods isn't making the team this year, but he is making a mark. Jared knows his only way to the show is to be physical and gritty.

I'm equally sure the coaches are trying to balance all of this with safety. As I said, this is the NHL. You want careful and slack, then the NBA awaits your undivided attention.

i don't like the sounds of it either but it's hockey camp. it's what they do and they're probably used to it. sounds like Muller approves but would be singing a different tune if Tlusty got his wrist broken. i would like to hear that these guys are standing up for eachother. this team has to toughen up unfortunately. it's the risk you run i guess.

They were just pushing and shoving at first, then they both committed to drop the gloves. It was just a grabbing fest until Blanchard I believe started to throw punches

I couldn't be happier that these guys are chippy in camp. That's what you want out of a competitive hockey team. If somebody gets hurt, somebody gets hurt. You can't sleepwalk through camp and then flip the switch. If you're fighting for your job, you better fight for it. Nobody should be comfortable. There are NHL forwards all over this camp, and if you don't want your job then somebody else does. Same for the defense.

This is hockey, not basketball. These guys are used to taking hits. Everybody is on notice. I want your job should be the slogan of camp this year. If you're not on board with that, you're not making this roster. There's too much at stake.

Show me anything that says woods "ran" him, which is the foundation of your argument. Then we'll talk about the rest. You were wrong before you even started, unless you can find somebody there who says there was anything even tough about the hit. No one has that I've seen. All that's been said is that tlusty got "crunched". For all you know woods took it easy on him. The fact corrente fought him means nothing. Corrente is even more of an "ahl nobody" who needs to earn his coaches attention.

If you don't know who woods is, learn something about your team. He just had a strong development camp a couple of weeks ago. With our lack of size and strength on the wing, he could vault to the top of the prospect list on this team pretty quick.

May-be, but if I'm looking at making $80K this year and there's a chance that if kick your tail now I can make ten times that, then one of us is in for serious beat down every day of camp. If you're a verteran and you get surprised by a "nobody", maybe you derserve it. :amazed:

You want a country club atmosphere and more seasons of losing?

Bingo. Guys need to protect their necks.

Bingo. Guys need this camp to be competitive as possible to adjust to the new division matchups as well. These guys need to bring it in camp or not bring it at all once the season starts.

I'm equally sure the coaches are trying to balance all of this with safety. As I said, this is the NHL. You want careful and slack, then the NBA awaits your undivided attention.

Bobcats will be better this year.

Second of all, it's the first day of training camp. Goes without saying to keep your head up.

Quoted for thread exiting truth.
