Kopitar doesn’t have any sand. Even when the games are intense battles, or someone gets injured, you’ll still see him chuckling with other players. Like….he doesn’t even get mad. I don’t expect him to go scorched earth when Byfield gets taken out, but don’t have a laugh with their goalie 5 minutes later. He has no pulse, and while that probably helps him play well, it doesn’t look good when the game gets chippy. He’s ALWAYS a gentleman, even to the enemy.
that was just f***in infuriating to me, joking around with the goalie. that's someone with no finger on the team pulse and that's a problem for a captain

i don't want guys out there taking runs/penalties in exchange for byfield's injury but i damn sure don't want them peeling OFF checks that are there and legal.. it's just an overall attitude thing

Brown's knee injury was the bigger culprit I think. He didn't fully recover from that for a couple seasons and then Brown had to reevaluate his fitness and game in additional seasons, his words. There was a great interview where he said he started watching the young players more closely and trying to figure out how they play because what he knew wasn't working anymore.
Maybe with his form but there was definitely a Sutter factor in there. Daryl took us to 2 cups so he ultimately gets a pass but he handled DB badly.

Yep. You got me. I haven't watched a game or read a thing in five years. Buy this man a grey suit and call him Matlock.

You couldn't scout atom hockey with your acumen.
It’s entirely possible to watch a game, without recognizing the what is driving (or not driving) the team.

Is it coincidence that the team has lost all semblance of self-respect and resilience, since the departure of the golden year leaders?

Like it or not, but Drew, and Kopi have never been the leaders of successful Kings teams. Mitchell, Richards, Greene, Williams, Stoll and Regher were the balls of winning teams.

Dustin had the most successful string of games of his career under Sutter.

2012 Dustin Brown from the trade deadline to his Injury against the Coyotes was an absolute wrecking ball. Hands down, the best hockey of his career.

They may not have gotten along, but he was far from mis-handled

It won’t make up for the kick in the nuts of the Byfield injury, but we get a treat on Saturday night with Nick Nickson calling the game on the BSW stream.

I’m interested to see who handles the PBP with Darryl Evans on the audio side.

Can the Kings have NNickson as the voice of the Kings constantly,I want to gouge my eyes out listening to idiotbore "Andre" Faust!!!

Hard to lead a team when so much talent left, got suspended, got "old"! Brown was no leader just a small piece of the puzzle

A Norris Trophy D-man who's as vocal as you can get and the top centre who's worn the A and C for most of his career aren't leaders of cup winning teams, but a pair of party boys -one of which ended up in the minors might I add- were 'the balls' of this team...

f*** this is absurd.

It's much more likely that it takes more than one guy to be a leader on a team and the fact we traded/released all those guys and replaced them largely with kids and sub-par guys had a negative impact than it is Kopitar and Doughty are ball-less.

Of all the tweeners on the Kings, Wagner is the only player with any trade value. Just like Amadio last year, he’s movable if a similar asset is coming back. You’re not going to get a potential middle six forward for him. It’ll be a 6/7 defenseman or another one dimensional 4th liner.

If you want to address the lack of toughness, maybe you could get a guy like Trent Frederic out of Boston for Wagner. Putting both Lemieux and Frederic out there shouldn’t be any kind of drop off from Wagner.

You are 100% incorrect.

I completely agree about 2012 and the spell up to and including 2014, but after that something wasn’t right. Maybe mishandled is the wrong word but there was a lot of chat about their relationship even before he lost the captaincy. Taking it off him like that was a huge error, although we will never really know if things would have been different.

Anyway, it’s done. Time to move on and for me to get over it.

Lines at practice today:

Arvidsson – Kopitar – Brown
Iafallo – Danault – Kempe
Tkachev – Vilardi – Andersson
Lemieux – Moore – Kaliyev
Grundstrom – Lizotte – Wagner

Anderson – Doughty
Bjornfot – Roy
Edler – Walker
Wolanin – Strand
Maatta (red)

Quick
Petersen

I actually like that line for Kaliyev. Basically 2 guys that will do all the dirty work, and let him pick his shot.
