Lines at practice today:

Arvidsson – Kopitar – Brown
Iafallo – Danault – Kempe
Tkachev – Vilardi – Andersson
Lemieux – Moore – Kaliyev
Grundstrom – Lizotte – Wagner

Anderson – Doughty
Bjornfot – Roy
Edler – Walker
Wolanin – Strand
Maatta (red)

Quick
Petersen

Swap Brown and Kaliyev and I'd be fine with those lines on opening night.

I actually like that line for Kaliyev. Basically 2 guys that will do all the dirty work, and let him pick his shot.
much better place for moore too imo, there was just nothing doing with wagner the other night

its still tmac though yknow, as much as i like the idea..

I'd swap Arvidsson and Iafallo, we know AI plays well with Kopitar. I'd like to see if Danault and Arvidsson have better chemistry.
Arvidsson doesn't seem to be clicking well...I'm all for a Kempe-Lias Andersson and Arvidsson line they can be called the Tre Kroner or the Juha Widing line

Don't agree. Leadership isn't about physical play. Let's not forget this same guy was wearing an A when we won two cups. No one would ever say Gretzky was physical, and he played at a time when the game was much more physically inclined and he reached six finals.

I'm not sure exactly how we select the C, but usually player involvement is part of the process to some degree. Kopitar got the C in part because the guys in the locker room wanted him to have it and apparently keep it given we have an organization which had no problem taking the C from Brown. He's a fine captain.

Um, from what I understood, it had nothing to do with the room, and EVERYTHING to do with Sutter and a condition to extending his contract. He fell out of favor with him [ pretty obvious putting King on the top line] and Sutter didn't want him as captain. Dean caved. That move put a giant black cloud over the team for years.

I doubt we'll ever know. Maybe if Brown/someone does a book after they retire. That said, I'd be very surprised if it was just managements decision because that doesn't fit how the process is handled in most locker rooms from junior on up. It also wouldn't explain why Kopi wouldn't just hand it back after the regime change. Either way, agree to disagree on this one.

That’s pretty much how I remember it, I’d forgotten the contract piece but that’s definitely what I understood the situation at the time.

The minute the players locked Sutter's ass out of the locker room you knew that they had enough at that point.

The disclaimer is that yes he's a very good coach but his shelf life is short at all of his stops for a reason.

Honestly, Wagner is a better option on the 4th line than Kaliyev unless he gets PP time.

Also, that would give the Kings the ability to keep Lizotte and Grundstrom until AA comes back.

I think I read that he played center at that recent WJC...and he was one of the better players on that team.

That's promising. I think Moore has an extra gear. Still prefer Turcutte as 4C so that we can get him used to the NHL, but these lines are not set in stone. I have a feeling the lineup is going to look really different for the bottom 6 during the second half of the season.

I think a lot of the players who are on one-year contracts are going to be sent off during the season. As the kids who kick ass in Ontario get called up permanently.

Agreed, Moore can grind but he’s got skill around the net. Lemieux has earned a spot in the lineup as well and just needs to keep crashing the net.

Last preseason game, let’s go!!!
