Whilst I like Lizotte, I don’t think he our best 4c because that is now JAD. I’ve got to think that because Lizotte is one of the guys that might have some trade value they are keeping him up until they move him. He’s got to have more value when you try to move him as an active NHL player and he’s pretty likely to get claimed if waived.

It gives JAD the opportunity to play a bigger role in Ontario for a short while but I think he will some back up fairly quickly. He has to because it risks messing up him development to protect an assets that at best might command something like a 6th rd pick.

If Byfield, Turcotte or Kaliyev forces their way into the roster we could end up Moore and JAD on our ‘4th’ line and we’d suddenly have tremendous depth. We’d certainly be able to role 4 lines evenly whilst 5 on 5 which will help the veteran guys and it makes us a strong play-off contender.

Bjornfot looked very good last night, easily the Kings best defender. He expanded his range with the puck and looked much more comfortable than last year.

Strand, if you want him around for his "toughness", was on the ice when Carrier face planted Maatta and did absolutely nothing about it. I like the kid, but don't mistake him for a physical defenseman.

Agree. Unfortunately this will be the signature of Kings hockey for awhile. Frustrated as hell but what can we do. Vegas bends us over smacks us around and the team tucks their tail and runs away again. Gonna be a very painful year I have a feeling. Literally.

Hello Kings fan, Question about Mikey Anderson, where is he projected to play in the kings lineup this year? Looking for a sleeper pick for my fantasy team and thought he could be one if he's playing beside Doughty.

Good grief. Bjornfot is only 20 years old. I think sometimes people forget how well he's playing for his age.

He will be pretty much glued to Drew’s hip for 5 on 5 play, barring a massive step forward from a guy like Bjornfot or a surprise trade acquisition.

Taking any Kings player in fantasy is a fools errand.

Also, unless his league gives points for TOI, Anderson won’t provide a ton of value. Someone like Walker who has a little offensive game from the 3rd pairing would be a better fantasy pick.

Byfield and Tkachev deserve to make this team. I believe Byfield is a center and not a wing, but in order to have both Byfield and Vilardi in the top 9, one would have to play wing.
I don't know where to put Brown...but he should not be on line 1.

Byfield - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Kempe - Danault - Iafallo
Andersson - Vilardi - Tkachev
Moore - Anderson-Dolan- Lemieux

Iafallo - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Kempe - Danault - Tkachev
Andersson - Byfield - Vilardi
Moore - Anderson-Dolan- Lemieux

You can't trade Brown...you can put him on line 2, but then Byfield or Tkachev has no room...or you have to trade a Kempe or someone.
It would be criminal to break up Vilardi-Andersson, the 2 have the best chemistry on the team. Having QB on line 1 LW is actually
intriguing, somewhat. If those minutes are too big, could switch Kempe or Iafallo there. Kempe MUST step up, imo, or be one to
be dealt.

Many teams would be already fitting probably 2 of: Byfield, Kupari, Turcotte, Fagemo and Kaliyev in....but the Kings can't / won't.
I get that they say that the youth have only had "half a season in the AHL" and do understand the merits
of having Byfield #1 center in Ontario and begin dominating - or close to that.

I think at this point, the team is more focused on playing the right way versus playing the right guys. For all his shortcomings, Lizotte plays the right way and the lack of results is not considered a problem when it comes to wins and losses.

And he probably plays the right way more consistently than JAD, or at least enough to earn the trust of the coaches. And if we’re counting on Lizotte or Wagner to convert more often in order to be in games, then we’re probably ignoring larger issues.

This is basically how I view management rationalizing the roster moves. It’s not about the pieces, it’s about establishing consistent winning habits throughout the lineup. The vets brought in are supposed to support the cup vets both on and off the ice.

It doesn’t leave me more optimistic about the chances that the Kings win more games.

Having the prime young talent marinate half a season extra while the team is figuring out the pretenders from the contenders isn’t an awful problem to have.

We aren’t competing for a cup this year, but it’s sink or swim time for the mediocre talents like Wagner & grundstrom. It’s also time to see who gets packaged up & sent away for a LHD that they roster obviously needs to compete. All this will open up the roster for the kids to step in eventually. Patience.

Hoven mentioned in his article today that the Kings seem to think both Byfield and Kupari are ready now. Even if we pencil in Byfield, I can't find a spot for Kupari unless Iafallo plays fourth line minutes. As it stands, playing Byfield would bump Brown to the bottom six.

Byfield - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Kempe - Danault - Iafallo
Andersson - Vilardi - Tkachev
Lemieux - Moore - Brown
Kupari, Lizotte

Honestly that’s good news for Clague. Having him and Durzi compete for a call up should help both players in the short term.

I didn't like JAD being a healthy scratch for 10 games at the start of last year, and I don't like JAD being sent to Ontario now. Keeping around organizational dead weight with no future here (Lizotte) instead of JAD just because JAD is waiver exempt doesn't sit right with me

They could've easily not re-signed Lizotte. Even if they didn't know for sure they would get Danault, they still didn't have to re-sign Lizotte. Yet they did. If the 3/4C spot is where JAD would play, then he wasn't going to make the team with the moves they made. With Seattle taking no wingers from this team, that's even fewer spots for young guys.

Lizotte could still lose his spot. That’s what happens. Voynov put in his time and Kings traded JJ. He could force the Kings to waive or trade him but he has to make the Kings play that hand and obv he didn’t do that so far in camp.

They traded JJ because they were still starved for offense beyond the top line even after trading all they did for Richards. The Kings weren't as deep on defense in 2012 as they were in 2014. It wasn't just because Voynov played well in the AHL. Luckily the Jackets didn't ask for Voynov. Or maybe they did.

Clague and Frk cleared. That is surprising lol

More surprised about Frk than Clague. But even with Frk, he needs to show he can be a regular in the NHL.

Clague had a brief time last season where he looked comfortable at the NHL level but didn't do anything where he showed he was better than the rest.
