GDT: Training Camp: Oh, Hockey’s Back

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
It'll be interesting to see how Nils Lundkvist plays, I hope he gets a roster spot. Kravtsov is also an eye opener, hopefully he will get a full season under his belt now.

Really is. Add fox who is Norris level at 24 and lindgren too. Legitimate 1st pair, with more on the way. Future is bright.
I honestly wouldn’t mind adding a 25-26 year old Eichel to the mix. But it’s most likely not going to be done. Too many moving parts/obstacles. But his age range fits with that 2nd coming up core
Laf, Eichel, Kakko - Line? ;)

a lot of potential there for something big. A motivated Eichel under Gallant with talent like that on his Wings would be pretty special to see..
Zibbys game hit another gear around age 25/26 as well. Would be interesting to see if Eichel has peaked and is what he is, ( which is still very talented) or if he can up his game to another level as well....

I think it's crap to post incorrect info on the main threads. Also, it's not funny, so why would I laugh?

I agree with you on this case. If you didn’t follow the thread it wasn’t easy to see if the info was a joke or not and many were asking if it was correct or not. And I am sure everyone agree that getting false info sucks.

Had my first kid at 36, got the news when I was 35. It has been an awesome ride!
Exactly the same here... after 10 years of marriage and a good bit of wondering if it would happen. The good news/bad news is that 27 years down the road there's a wonderful lovely funny person who I don't get to have around the house making everything better anymore. Enjoy every moment, new dads!

I just read Carp’s article on Mika and I’ve got to wonder if he really wants to be here. I’m referring to Carp. To say he is mailing it in would be an insult to the post office.
I'm sometimes a little troubled by him not seeming to dig harder also. But... yesterday I made a big mistake and watched the media availability clips on YouTube. Two things... First, it became clear that pretty much ALL these "reporters" arrive in the room with very little preparation and also with a preconception of the story they want to write. Most of them were asking exactly the same question no matter who they were speaking with rather than tailoring their queries to what was most interesting about each individual. (Exactly NO ONE asked Kreider about playing on the right for example). One female reporter (Walker? Unsure) just asked everyone if the roster changes over the summer changed team expectations. Over and over and over. The other thing is... Carp actually has a more "analytical" approach to the obligatory Mika story than Brooks did.

The Brown, Dellapina, MacPeek years are well behind us it seems. These guys seem to mostly just show up at pressers, ask one softball question, go home and write a halfdozen paragraphs and get paid for it. Our best hockey journalist at this point is actually Valiquette. WTF.

You know what else is so stupid? Complaining.

No one here is a professional sports journalist who "owes you" good Ranger camp info. As a matter of fact, no one here owes you a goddamned thing.

So either contribute and shape the discussions to something more in line with what you want or don't bother showing up.

Either way, quit yer bitchin'. It's boring.
You know what’s stupid? Bitching about complaining. It just causes the initial opinion you don’t like to be carried on longer. Hmm

Eichel has always been motivated. He has been surrounded by shit.

Yea but going from a bottom feeder to a playoff contender for the 1st time in his career is a big morale boost

A morale boost, sure, but this narrative that he's unmotivated, selfish, a primadonna .... is bullshit. You don't reach near superstar level in the NHL without being incredibly dedicated to your work.

Yea no doubt he’s supremely talented. But being dogshit for 6 years and going to a team young and loaded like NYR will hopefully give him more fire in the belly I would think. You can’t do what he’s already accomplished at his age without being massively talented. Your def right about that

Carp starts his write up with

"Bigger. Tougher. Grittier. Whatever."

For real? That is just piss poor writing. Im sorry. You want fans to come back and read your shit with that lead off?

I dont care what you feel about the team direction, its been done and its over. Provide us with some real material. He's been garbage for a couple of years now and its embarrassing.

Biggest story of the day was Gallants approach to camp with scrimmaging. 3 coaches prior to him had a vastly different approach. Not a word on it.

Carpiniello: Mika Zibanejad isn't worried about his future in New York, but the Rangers should be

First day of training camp and he's not even there. Colin Stephenson posted the pic of Fox in the practice jersey that said "Norris" on the back and Carp replied "is that real?" Dude you should know because you should be there.

He posted like 3 articles all off season on the Athletic. It's pathetic. The Rangers are one of the biggest fanbases in the league with so many people hungry for content and one of the biggest outlets covering us sticks us with a guy who seems to hate the fans, hate his job and is lazy as hell. It's a joke honestly.

Tweeting pics of old athletes saying "Badass" all summer.
