So are these the actual numbers? Good.

Kinda surprised Kakko wasn't in that group of face off drills. IIRC he has been very good at the dot when needed. On second thought, I guess that's the reason he isn't there haha.

Don’t forget about Ruesschoff, who could be a legitimate 4th liner in a year of 2 at 6’7.
Between Hartford and NYR, we have a lot of big boys. Richards isn’t small/doesn’t play small either.

The reason he wasnt there is because the practice group he is in with Panarin, strome etc. hasnt been on ice yet. And cmon, 3 fo wins 4 fo losses last season. Surely you couldnt have thought he is so good at faceoffs that he doesnt need any more practice

good to see Kakko lost some weight and Kredier gained some back over the past 48 hours

I think people look into this way too much. In NFL training camps it’s always intense. Especially for the young guys.

not to mention with a new coach you want to show him what your made of.

Yeah if anything, our camps have been TOO light for a while. Going back to the AV days.

You don't train for a powerlifting meet by running a bunch of marathons.

Same shift, different video, Laf with the set up to Nemeth who missed the net

Kreider did more than be along for the ride in this one, his work along the walls freed up the puck for Laf to make the pass AKA, shit that Kreider didn't do enough last year.

noticed that too. I’m not down on Kreids like most people but obviously last year could of been better.

I think he's going to be one of the guys, if not the top, to really benefit the most from the coaching change and the kids growing.

I'll admit I didn't even look at the statistics, just went on hunch from what I remembered from his Liiga years and the odd faceoff I saw from him during these two years. My mistake, I'll go to the shame-corner.

Mika is playing at 200 lbs?

Thats uh... Interesting. He was pushing 230 a few seasons ago.

Great catch, and I mean, it’s just the name of the game right now.

Slimming down makes you a better player. And the reason for it is so obvious:
*You benefit from weight like 5% of the time you are on the ice as a forward, if that.
*Weight is always negatively affecting your movement.
*Since you constantly are moving, while you are not benefitting from your weight it’s to a disadvantage for you. Ie 95% of the time.

And the impact of it isn’t small. Someone asked if Chytil can do what Gourde did.

There is a 40 lbs difference between the two. Imagine the difference in an experiment where Gourde and Chytil both are going 20 mph in one direction and then they do a full stop to go in the other direction, it’s 400 Newton more for Chytil to put in to accomplish the same thing.

Straight ahead speed is one thing, but someone like Chytil will never be able to cover as much ice as Gourde can do with the game looking as it does right now going up and down the ice so much.

Chytil is also 5-6 inches taller. He isn't going to be able to motor around like some of the smaller guys, but his reach/size is going to give him advantages that some of those smaller guys just aren't going to have. I don't think he should be playing the same type of game that Gourde does, it just isn't going to work and I don't think its the best utilization of his skills anyway.

I DO think that we would benefit from having one of those smaller, gnat like whirling dervish forwards in our top 9 though. I would have loved to add Gourde this last offseason.

I see they dropped Shesterkin’s height to 6’1.

was listed as 6’2 all last year I’m fairly certain. (Not even in heels he wasn’t 6’2

This is the well thought out response from Carp, mailing it in once again:

New York Rangers

Season prediction: Barely miss playoffs

The Rangers are better prepared to compete in the playoffs, but perhaps not ready to make the playoffs. -Rick Carpiniello
