Schopp, White, Parker, these guys all have to go. I can't listen to WGR for any amount of time because of them. I used to listen for Sal, Brown and Tasker. But now, I don't even get a chance to see if they're on or about to come on, because within two to five minutes I've already tuned out.
Today, Parker was talking about how he thinks this team has become a paper tiger because we don't have a "homerun" hitter. Jesus christ, the prime of an NFL player lasts three to five years - tops. No one has that guy until the season begins to play itself out, and you find out you do. Everyone else has unrealized magic beans or marked up faded glory jeans.
And the complete lack of respect for The Salary Cap is astounding. I'm sorry everyone wants the best roster in the league every year, on paper, but it doesn't work like that. The economics dictate that every team is going to be dismantled in due time. It's all about how your GM manages the turnover between cycles, and right now Beane's doing a fantastic job of it.
If you disagree with how Beane's doing, because this roster doesn't have the star power that it did, I'm sorry you're not smarter. I'm sorry you can't figure out that the best team in the offseason virtually never wins the Super Bowl. That you can't figure out injuries matter. The first seed matters. The schedule in May does not. That SOS is dynamic, and changes on an almost weekly basis. Etc.
It's just infuriating that these people get paid to talk about sports, but bring nothing to the table outside of fantasy football advice and hot dog reviews. I wish I could get paid to be so inept.
