Yep you know many people will be bitching after they make those calls .. heh I'm not getting my seats, heh I'm getting lots of weekday games, heh I'm getting too many shitty teams, omg it will go on and on .. glad I have a deal to sell my seats this year to a buddy .. whatever they are

Lol, no doubt.
Yeah I'm planning on dumping most as well. Probably everything until New Year then will see where the world is at before getting rid of the rest.

You guys are setting yourself for pain. Hyman is consistent and much less injury prone.

I would set expectations a little lower than what Hyman was able to produce over the last 4 seasons.

Many IFs with Kase. Hyman you know what you get. That being said IF he stays healthy and IF he returns to 2017 form he might have better value than Hyman contract wise.

some of you may call this a hot take, don’t care that much, but the way I saw it, I don’t think Zach Hyman was very good last year, healthy or otherwise. Sure, he put up a ton of points riding shotgun to two of the best players in the league (so did the ghost of joe thornton) but he imo too often lost sight of his role on that line. The only point I loved his game last year was when they put him on the third line and had him drive the line. Hyman was misused almost his entire time in Toronto

I like Liljegren a lot too, and defensively he is further along imo than Sandin is, but I think you’d be kidding yourself to not think sandin has the inside track to make the lineup if we’re putting in a young guy.

The lack of waiver exemption is a fair point though

I really think Liljegren's bonuses have been more of a reason for Sandin getting the nod than Sandin outplaying Liljegren.

But even if Sandin has the inside track, I don't think he has much more of one, he has been inconsistent and not great.

Personally, I am much higher on Liljegren, the team may have a completely different opinion but I just don't know if playing time is the best indicator because of cap issues.

The Kampf quote seems another indication they're going to have a defensive minded 3rd line shutdown unit
Yup it sounds like they are gonna have 3 goal scoring lines mixing up 4 guys on 3 lines and then a checking line .. we will see how long it lasts .. although I like Willy/ Kerfoot with a guy to open up more ice for them in Wayner

Until they change it, didn’t announce end date. Kind of like that last 18 months, re-evaluate as you go.
Ontario eases restrictions on capacity limits for some indoor and outdoor settings
Guess we'll see come opening night. I have no idea other than they 'expect'[ it.

Leafs sent this out last week, they are 'optimistic'.
Dear

The past 18 months have presented enormous challenges in all of our lives, and we look forward to being able to return to the activities we love and have missed. For all of us at MLSE, that means welcoming you, our valuable members, back to cheer on our beloved Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena and having your energy and support to make this building, once again, one of the most exciting venues in sports and entertainment.

We continue to work closely with government, public health officials and our fans to ensure a safe return to our venues, including an announcement last week that all attendees entering MLSE’s venues (except children 11 and under) will be required to provide proof of full vaccination prior to entry into the arena. With our enhanced public health and safety measures, we are optimistic regarding our ability to host full capacity events at Scotiabank Arena for the 2021-22 season as we await confirmation on permitted venue capacities. We plan to unveil updated fan health and safety protocols in the coming weeks and should there be any changes to our plans for venue capacity limits and health and safety protocols, we will be sure to communicate those details to you at that time.

In preparation for the start of the 2021-22 season, our Member payment plan program will resume beginning on Friday, October 8th, 2021. Please see instructions below to select and activate your Membership payment plan.

I think Kampf will be given every opportunity to lead a 3rd line checking line. The other elements are to be determine. List of wingers can include Bunting, Micheyev, Kase, and Engvall.

My prediction:

Ritchie-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander
Bunting-Kampf-Micheyev
Simmonds-Semyonov-Spezza
Kase, Engvall

This is called discarded toy syndrome or shiny new toy syndrome.

Every time we get a new player our old players are trash all of a sudden. It's really a slap in the face to one of our most consistent warriors who showed up every night.

yeah that’s not at all what this is. I’ve been consistent in my opinions. Hyman is a good player but his impact on the first line was always minimal. And he absolutely did not show up every night. (See; the whole playoffs the last 2 years, for starters)

Hyman's best product was last season, he had a point per game of 0.77 with Marner/Matthews

EDITED:
Kase's best product was the 18/19 season, he had a point per game of 0.67 with Ritchie/Henrique

That's all I am saying.

Hyman is good, I just think he gets overrated, and Kase is getting underrated.

Not sure I understand the bolded part.

Ya Senators have been saying the same, they “expect full capacity”, maybe it was a provincial front of subliminal messaging to the province. I was thinking all along I’d be surprised if they go over 50% to start. So I think the year starts out at 50, then they review down the line, I guess will depend if uptick in cases can be tied back to large events, when they review capacities next time.

I be surprised if it changes by opening night, as teams have needed a number for a while now, and need to inform the STH.

Also, Menell is not waiver exempt, which is why I think he may get a look.

I think Mennel is definitely on the active roster at the start of the year as well. Not being waiver exempt will be the big reason why.

You'd have to think something has to give with Dermott or Lilly. I just don't see any reason why we'd play Dermott over Liljegren if Timmy shows up to camp and looks ready. He's been ready for a while now. It's hardly like Dermott plays mistake free hockey. We may as well go with the younger more affordable option that gives us more roster flexibility. The cap implications of holding Dermott and say Engvall only allows for a 21 man roster, whereas trading Derms and waiving Pierre allows for a 22 man roster. We don't have the luxury of a taxi squad this year, so runing a 21 man roster seems a bit unlikely in my mind. Waiving Pierre alone is not enough to carry 22 players. We need an injury or another contract to go. I think Derms is the obvious choice if Lilly appears ready.

I like Dermott, I think he can be a solid defensemen in this league. But I am not sure I see anything overwhelming that would eventually bite us in the ass. Take what you can get for him, and get the roster flexibility.

The way I see it is, someone will have an injury in their defense at camp. Dermott poses as a viable trade option at a manageable cap hit that likely could be had for a single mid round draft pick.

Of course this all hinges on if Mennel looks good enough to be able to be our 7th defensemen. Which I suspect he will. If not, we may have to move Micheyev to get a 22 man roster.

All n All there really isn't many options to maintain a 22 man roster without Engvall and one of dermott or Micheyev getting off the books

After 5 years on the job Dubas is only now putting together a legit shutdown line
It's KD's 4th Season as GM for starters. Also, I think he was a bit busy trying to get our perennial bottom 10 rated defensive group into a level of respectability.

Which he did. Muzz, Holl, Brodie were all his acquisitions.

First time in 20 years they've been in the top 10 least goals allowed. We are largely bringing back the same defensive group with the subtraction of Bogo. Who was a big time player for sure, but it shouldn't cripple us too bad. I think icing a true shutdown line could potentially be something they look to do to some degree. But they aren't going to play David Kampf minute for minute with their teams best. They will just want the minutes his line play to be event neutral. He will earn his money in defensive zone starts and PK likely.

The question becomes if we have a true shut down line will Keefe actually use them as intended.
He has already indicated by word and action that he doesn’t believe in line matching
