Looks like Kase survived the first day. That’s huge.

this photo was taken of him arriving at Ford Performance Centre. Good to see he is taking extra precautions

I wouldn't look too much into the recent line pairings - the top six main duos will likely still start the season together.

BUT it is an advantage to have in the back pocket that they can jumble the units mod game I'd it comes down to it. The chemistry between Nylander and Kerfoot in particular is interesting

Putting Nylander on the third line I think is a good idea. Helps spread the offense. We saw in the playoffs the last few years that we need a third line that can contribute and Nylander would help with that.

The whole spread the offence thing is overrated. All you end up with is a bunch of watered down lines that are easier to defend individually. And a guy like Nylander who could get you 70pts of production if used properly gets held down to 50-60 in an underutilized role. Our best players scoring less doesn’t necessarily help the team.

No I don't know Rielly personally that's why I didn't and don't speculate on baseless assumptions, especially locker room stuff that no one knows about. The fact is out PP sucked, and Rielly sucked on it, trying something new was the right call, end of story.
Like 50% of sports conversation is baseless assumption.

Based on past reclamation projects I would put their probability of success at a very low percentage but that’s why you do it, buying lottery tickets.

Gusev to me is 50-50 because he was really pretty good as a rookie and then fell into the crapper last season. His 55pt rookie pace with under 15:00 TOI and the 3 previous years in the K suggest he has the skills to succeed. Unless he has a lifestyle/psych issue I give him better than 50% of playing top 9 for the Leafs. He isn't old and he isn't coming off knee surgery so..... but yeah still a lottery ticket.

I expect Ho Sang is AHL bound. Nothing about his pro career suggests he can contribute to a contender. 32 g in his draft season and never again showed any kind of snipe. Anything can happen I guess, because the physical package is still there but he probably needs to reinvent himself to show that he can ever be a useful role player.

I understand that players can gain and lose weight, I also understand that players can grow an inch or two since some of them are very young. What I don’t understand is how did they lose an inch in height? Did they cut their hair or forgot to wear paddings in their shoes. Lol.

I am hoping to see Engvall with AF and Willie in camp, maybe that will happen in the next few days.
Ho-Sang with JT is interesting. Hopefully Kase shows he is 100% and stick with JT.

I think they realize their third line needs a huge jolt especially in playoffs since last year they stunk. Moving nylander there will be good for the team if he accepts that role.

They is just trying thangs out sire. They will send ho-sang out for the minors as soon as possible. He doesn't have what it takes. He's just flying around there, creating some competition. Its not even real, just breathing.

Nylander or Marner will start the season with JT. The one who won't, will be playing with 34# (matthews).

Ho-Sang has that Galchenyuk feel to it. He might go to the Marlies, work out some kinks and then get called up eventually.

Gusev is all or nothing. I don't see it happening but maybe he explodes in camp...

I'm guessing Gusev goes the way of Barabanov.

Ho-Sang, hopefully he follows a Verhaeghe, Duclair style rise. (But probably not).

I guess it's interesting that of all the extra dmen it's Dahlstrom that got paired with a regular today (Holl).

Indicates he might be #8 on the depth chart.

Big Euro with decent mobility and defense first play - the new Marincin?

I sort of agree in that they need to practice and have a look where they can occasionally drop Willie or Mitch to the third line to to gain a matchup advantage. But playing Willie reduced minutes last season meant they overused Mitch and Auston and I am fairly certain that was what caused the Marner fail in the playoffs rather than him suddenly not wanting to compete. After the big 4, the forward skill level drops off a cliff.

Wherever Willie spends the bulk of his time, he needs to be playing well over 18:00 a night so they need to maybe use him on a couple of different lines. If their big 4 are all legitimate stars they should be capable of elevating lesser forwards on lower lines from time to time. But it can't start midway through their first playoff series.

The Leafs roster is like a Rubik's cube. It's beyond me to figure it out.

Suppose they trade both Kerfoot and Holl without taking salary back? Then they could rummage through the bargain bin they've brought to camp to their heart's content without exposing so many players to waivers.

Maybe replacements emerge from within.

Probably the most stupid thought I've had all day -- I'll know that tomorrow morning.

Otherwise, without shedding some salary, they're just going to have to leave some garbage at the curb. Maybe that's the better path? Is one Kerfoot worth three of Ho Sang, Gusev, Engvall, Brooks, Spezza and/or Liljegren? Beats me.
