it's insane. the lineup they are icing today is so bad that it really makes me question why this is even being played. what are we supposed to learn from playing guys that will be lucky to make ahl lineup? like 37 looks good for us today, but is that just bc he is good ahl player?
update. 37 looks like an ahler.

i do like the swagger in buchinger's game. that is nice.

Kalynuk does have some NHL experience.
Not surprising he looked fairly decent given the lineups on the ice.

Keleman from Sanford on the PP.
3-2 Blues.

Dude is the best in the business by a long shot. His biases are a little too obvious, but his enthusiasm, broadcast skill, and sense of humor are great. There are certainly better replacements, but it was going to be a clear step down from Panger no matter what.
Pang is best at what? He was insufferable.

Strongly disagree. I don't agree with all of his takes, but he's fun and has blatantly authentic enthusiasm. He doesn't make it all about himself and what he knows. Good chemistry with pretty much every other broadcaster. He knows when to jump in and when to let the play-by-play person go. He's clear-spoken and doesn't ramble.

Panger is one of the best in the business. I can understand not liking the stuff in between calling the actual game, especially if you're anti-fun, but you can't deny that when he's commenting on the game he's great as well as entertaining.

He'll be the one bright spot in Chicago.

he might've been insufferable last season, but he's still one of the better color commentators in the league. listen to some away feeds this season, it gets so, so, so much worse than pang.

100% agree with this. When I have to travel several hours for work at night, I usually have SiriusXM on whatever game it is (unless Blues are playing) and there are some just God awful radio people. I have watched plenty of games over the year too.

Panger & Kelly were top 5 in the league IMO. They have a little homer, but it isn't beyond homered such as Boston guys. Anytime they are on, I change the station. Similar with Kerbs & Vitale. I'm not a huge Vitale fan but I kinda do like the randomness at times. Sometimes they go on a little too long. If I was ranking them on the radio, I would probably top ten maybe top 12 (I would have re listen and watch some of the different crews to have a ranking). We are very lucky IMO that we have pretty good broadcast crews for both.

Kerber is probably the best hockey play by play announcer I know of. He's a goober, but that's part of his charm. I loved when he got a chance to do a TV game when JK was under the weather last season. Vitale is sucky, but is not godawful. He's just a bit too...let's say Chaotic Neutral when we're looking for Chaotic Good.

There are some shockingly bad crews on both sides, but I'd say radio announcers league-wide might actually be more enjoyable for me than your average local TV guys. I remember liking the Minnesota crew for the prospect showcase thing - I think that's their radio crew, too.

Just watched the highlights. Good thing Buchnevich was there to bail Kyrou out during Buchnevich's first goal. Sunny looks like a man possessed (kind of like Blais did when he came back last season). And why was Kyrou taking point shots? You aren't going to score from there you lazy bum.

Subban's getting a workout early(8 shots against in 2:43).
D needs to stiffen up.

21 shots against in the first period.
Subban had to have been standing on his head to keep them to one goal.
Real shame we don't have video.

I'm hearing Geekie and Raty's name far too much. Gotta get somebody on them.

Ratcliffe dropping the gloves with Douglas.
Big boy bout(6'9" vs 6'6").
Douglas picks up the instigator.
First real sign of a pulse.

He literally scored from the point today.
