My guess is we see what we will be under Bones by the 10th game of the season. That should be more then enough time to commit the system muscle memory.

American thanksgiving is the measuring stick, me thinks

I'm excited to see if they gel... but it does feel like one line of shooters and a second line of set up men
Yep that top line could score 100 goals, but 2nd line? Is Wheeler going to develop into a finisher now that he isn't the C? I mean he does have a decent shot. Seems like there could be some changes. I like that there are two bigger bodied players around Perfetti though, I still don't think the kid's ready for the corners of the ice.

I was looking through those lines and I think you have an idea of what the coach is looking for. 4th line with Gus in the middle of Toninato and Gagner looks like something that could stick, all can play on the PK. Barron hasn't played, but I imagine he's probably going to take Harkins spot on the 3rd line.

If Torgersson-Zhilkin-Lambert start together in preseason that could be a line to watch, for the future.

That second line could produce 70 goals. 30 for Dubois, 20 each for Perfetti and Wheeler. The challenge is you need ~100 goals from the bottom 6 and the defence.

I was pretty impressed with his strength and escapability against an ahl club in Calgary in the young stars. Of course, the nhl is a whole different beast but it was encouraging.

Is Barron hurt?

So v early but what does the LW look like?

Connor / Perfetti / Barron / Harkins?

Toninato as the extra forward?

Connor - Scheifele - Ehlers
Perfetti - Dubois - Wheeler
Barron - Lowry - Appleton
Harkins - Gustafsson - Gagner
Toninato
Eyssimont
Maenalanen?

My darkhorse is Torgersson (but I suspect waiver eligibility means he plays on the Moose)

IMO, on play & outcome recall, Wheeler has lost a few milli-seconds in getting his shot off and thus, goalies are tracking where it is going and/or defenders are deflecting or blocking his shot attempts. Expecting him to suddenly find a scoring touch as a shooter seems unlikely, but...you never know? This team, roster needs a 'Patrik laine/David pastrnak /Alex debrincat-type rhs rw scorer for sure. Then the hope of better could be anticipated. Lots of teams are lijeky one-key-scorer/shooter-away from "winning it all", potentially.

League average was 255 goals last year, and the Jets were below both on offense and defense. I think the challenge is to get below 3 GAA, and improvement in d-zone coverage, and penalty killing should get there. I'm not so worried about getting to 255 goals, that's a 5 goal improvement from last year's team, and right off the hop I think that top line will set the pace. Seems like they are clicking.

I think there's some hope with Lucius coming up the pipeline. How long it takes him is anyone's guess, but that would be the guy I'd be banking on for goals down the road. Already taking Wheeler off the Scheifele line changes the dynamic because you always expected Wheeler to try to set up Scheifele even if wasn't there. With Perfetti and Wheeler as a winger combo, there's two great passers, both will have to selfishly shoot once in a while. Definitely should be some opportunities for d-men who jump the rush to get some shots.

Connor-Scheifele-Ehlers as the top line I like it.

Heinola starting on his offside is an easier way to progress up to a higher pairing.
Too many scorers on that 1st line, so hopefully they will take one of the snipers off the 1st line, and put him on the 2nd line. I know it's very early in the game here, so Bowness right now is experimenting, so we'll see what final lines are down the road ?? I'd like to see more of a balance of playmakers, and snipers on each line. Be interesting to see what the starting lineups are come season opener.

I'm not so sure of that. Ehlers is also a terrific playmaker. All 3 of those guys can also dish the puck. What I like is that Ehlers has the speed to match Connor so you can get downhill in hurry. Should be some 2 on 1s with that line, just based on talent.

I'm kind of looking at that 2nd line as an experiment. I do like having Wheeler on the bench trying to calm down an emotionally charged Dubois.

Definitely looks like a top 6 team, but my hope is the bottom six is defensively strong enough that the top 6 plays more in the offensive zone, where it's easier to score. Though I think that top line could match up against any top line in the league.

I'd say that Harkins is probably the extra forward, as he will be someone who might get some top 6 minutes with a game day scratch. I think he's shown less everyday capability than Toninato at this point.

Torgersson was my dark horse to make the team too. If you are looking for scoring out of the bottom 6 he's a guy who might have what it takes.

I noticed that Maenalanen moved to the right side in the scrimmages, which I think makes an easier road for him to get up the lineup, as the only other player at RW who likely gets promoted is Kristian Reichel. Lambert would be a dark horse too I suppose, if he joined the Moose.

Looking at the roster dynamic I think you could see something like this on the Moose

Torgersson-Stenlund-Maenalanen
Limoges-Bongiovanni-Lucius
Malott-Nikkanen-Reichel

And Eyssimont kind of fits anywhere.

Depth wise I think the Jets are better off than last year with Stenlund, Maenalanen, Limoges replacing Suess, Poganski and Luke Johnson, especially with a full year from 3 prospects in Torgersson, Nikkanen and Bongiovanni. Then add Lucius and Lambert potentially.

I want one punishing line but dont think we have the roster for that.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Lowry and Barron are 1,2 in hits on the team, maybe 1,3 after Dillon. That should be good enough to match Nashville's checking line, or Minnesota's.

Don't forget Meireles and Maier, they were among the best on a bit of a weak forward group for the Moose last year.
