I'm not the biggest Howden fan but man this guy for a 22 year old gets a lot of unwarranted hate. From all accounts he is having a pretty decent camp thus far, let's see how he does in his 3rd NHL season before the pitchforks come out?

Problem is we said stuff like this last season as well.

He's been bad for msot of his career at the NHL level with a few bright spots here and there, mostly at the very beginning.

I wanted to see more from him last year but was left wanting and became more of a critic. If he can show it then that's great but he hasn't shown much real progress which is what you want to see from a player regardless of how young they are

I somewhat agree but he still only played 2 years pro hockey, he's had some growing pains for sure but he was also rushed into the NHL at 20 with limited minutes most of his pro career. If he puts up 30-35 points this season he is back on track for a decent 3rd liner.

He is playing the entire season in the KHL. He's getting good top 6 minutes, leading the team in goals and continuing to develop.

Referring to the time Howden has been in the NHL as a career is a bit of a stretch.

Reg season ends Feb 27th. Traktor is most likely making the play offs, so my expectation is for Kravtsov to not join the Rangers until probably early April (account for travel, quarantine etc)

Oh it happens all the way, but he was on pretty shaky footing to start with and he just f***ing fell through the ice and basically drowned to death last year.

So yea, people were wrong to think it was just “quarantining”. It’s an injury like i thought. The day to day has slowly turned into a week.

Yeah, could be an injury, I am sure he has been skating in Sweden. But it’s perfectly possible that it’s a cold/flu too right? Could certainly be Covid, not that it’s a big deal for a young athlete (most players I’ve heard from have had little to no symptoms).

But that usually requires a decent rookie season. Howden didn't really have one.

Last year was more like a Sophomore dump.

Assuming they aren't trading away any of Panarin, Zibanejad, Kreider, Buchnevich or Chytil, they can only protect 2 of Howden/Lemieux/Strome/Gauthier.

Rooney and Blackwell may not even be needed to meet expansion draft requirements

unless we trade guys out, forward exposure shouldn't be an issue...we will protect mika, panarin, kreider, chytil and buch. that leaves 2 spots between strome, howden, lemieux and gauthier. so 2 of them get exposed.
