Hey if Miller can carry this over to the games and stick, power to him. It helps the Rangers immensely.

I was about to make a crack about Quinn’s obsession of Howden then thought, wouldn’t it be nice if it becomes justified.

Some of these motherf***ers here always want to talk about Miller not being elite, Miller having a bad year last year, Miller being a long way away, Miller makes terrible plays all over, Miller this, Miller that.

Miller is a fantastic f***ing prospect who is much closer than the stat surfers realize, and I have been saying this all year. Even during his "bad" year last season, you could tell the guy was already making NHL-caliber plays.

I wish I still had it linked, but his analytics were like leagues better than everyone else on his team's defense.

He was so far ahead of the curve he was literally off the charts

seriously. A lot of people on this site also want it so they can hype up their young prospects who "look great in camp" but then end up getting sent down anyway. Camp shmamp.

And preseason games suck too. Every season I get super hyped then halfway thru the first preseason game i'm bored. The real games are less than a week away, just hang on everybody.

The difference this year is that things are extremely different.

There is no preseason.

We are going straight into the season so there is no time for any of the fans to evaluate the young talent or new players on the roster.

We have the #1 ranked prospect pool in the NHL and if there was ever a camp to watch in all the years I’ve been a fan, it’s this one.

Most people are stuck in their houses trying to do the right thing, at least throw them a bone and stream some scrimmages and expand the content.

The Rangers have one of the best practice facilities in the world. I can log into a virtual cam that automatically pans the rink I play in at Hackensack, in HD, on demand. This is 2021. There doesn’t need to be any camera men there.

I don’t know, I’m honestly a little shocked at the lack of coverage. I’m not losing sleep over it or am really pissed off, just kinda surprised really. I few like it’s a lost opportunity to promote the team.

And MSG too, have they done much of anything other than rerun the interviews? This is a great Emmy award winning network. Thought we would see a in camp special by now, even if it wasn’t what they’ve normally done at the rink.

then they must be hiding something.

next time I catch someone talkin shit about Miller, I'm f***ing bullying them on HF. I'm not playing around anymore.

So that leaves PP2 as

Lafreniere - Chytil - Kakko/Buchnevich
Trouba - Fox

I'd want to swap Strome with Kakko, Buch or Laf. Handedness isn't balanced enough between the two

Should be Laf, he shoots it the best of that trio.

Allowing Laf to run the show on his own unit could be beneficial to him long term, but its not like the 2nd unit gets a ton of PP time.

Someone is not going to see PP time who would actually deserve it though. I don't like having both of our righties on the 2nd unit playing up top either but these guys move around a bunch so I guess that doesn't matter as much.

I'll be honest with you, I still don't know if we're looking at elite here.

But if the shitting on him when things are down is dangerous approach, the opposite tends to add to the challenge as well.

There's a very good probability that the best of Miller make you feel like this, and the worst of Miller will lead to nightmares for the mods in the GDTs. At least for a while.

I hate the idea of keeping Strome on PP1. thats 4 RHS and Kreider, the only lefty, screening the goalie. Also Laf will probably be better on the PP anyway.

I’m optimistic that it won’t stay this way for long. Sticking all our top young guys haphazardly on pp2 is not setting them up for success

We had a really good PP last year and with the shortened camp, not much time to practice it. If the PP isn't working, others will get their chance.

These would be my PP units

Kreider

Panarin Zibanejad Lafreniere

DeAngelo

Chytil/Kakko

Trouba Buchnevich/Strome Kakko/Chytil/Buchnevich

Fox

Play the hot hand(s) on the right wall of PP unit two.

Kakko looks different. Older. At least from the 2.5 images and 4 seconds of video I’ve seen of him lol

nice to see laf is already gaining chemistry with Chytil. That’s what they say about that kid. He is the type of player that makes everyone around him better.

I feel like PP practice has historically an inverse effect with this franchise. The more they practice at it, the more they suck at it. Shortened camp is the best thing ever for the PP.

He's absolutely going to make mistakes, there is no doubt about it. He's a young defenseman and he's still only been playing the position for four-ish years. If people expect him to be flawless or even close, then yeah, there will be disappoinment and things will get messy. That goes for any player with high expectations.

His package of tools is elite. I don't believe that in the 20+ years I've been around HF, I have ever declared unequivocally that one of our prospects has truly elite tools. I think Miller does, and that if they come together, he will dominate. It's hardly a guarantee, but I obviously feel very strongly about the kid.

The PP was great last year with Strome in that role. I didn’t think it was a good plan but it was very effective. I don’t see much reason to change it to start the year.

Personally, I think he'll be unique and valuable. Mistakes do happen, but I've also been consistent in my concern that the "tools" raise the expectations and that when there's a gap there, the fans start to turn and get frustrated.

I freely admit, that is still a concern for me. But, as always, if he blows past it, that's fantastic. Because that means the Rangers benefit. So, to be clear, I'm 100 percent pulling for what you see.

Which makes Fox that much more of a revelation last year. Dude came out like blue lightning and was flawless for a good 60 games.
