Not a bad idea. He will be 24 years old next season. I would prefer a player a couple of years younger, but I think a player like Girgensons is out there in a deal for Martinez.

Since I mentioned Florida as a possible trade partner, how about Bjugstad? He will be 25 years old, so doesn't quite fit my criteria, but something needs to be done to shore up the forwards in the future.

I have no idea what Dean's plans are for this off season, but it seems a realistic assessment of where this team is today is in order. Sutter is likely correct. This roster, as it stands today, is a middle of the pack team.

Girgensons for Martinez?? Buffalo better be adding a 1st round pick at least to that. Girgensons has scored more than 8 goals once in his career (4 seasons). That's more like 4-5 on the Kings.

I think a lot of it is gonna depend on what we can do (if anything) with Brown and Gabs. Because we need to find some one to play with Kopitar. And I'm also thinking a coaching change is needed. I appreciate DS and where he has gotten us but we need a different direction.

Yea, I don't think Girgensons does much more than Dowd or Shore here. His trajectory doesn't bode well for his future either, I would be surprised if he ever sniffs 30 points again. I wouldn't trade Martinez for a guy that is going to consistently produce less than Dwight King. We need to aim higher.

I think all the discussions regarding Martinez for a particular player is fine, but what really is important is the concept of moving Martinez for a young forward with plenty of upside.

Bonus points for the player being ineligible to be taken by Las Vegas in the expansion draft.

I would not trade Martinez. The only way I would deal him is if Voynov comes back. Martinez is solid and won two cups, has a reasonable contract, is a good guy who the fans like and has the last name "Martinez" in Los Angeles.

If I am Lombardi, I try and deal McNabb.

I would hope the D plays out like this next year...

Doughty-Forbort
Muzzin-LaDue
Martinez-Gravel/MacDermid

MacDermid will make a case next year. He has spent two full years in the AHL, is tough as hell, replaces Greene and has been a plus 24 and plus 11 in the last two seasons.

I'd deal McNabb too, if not to only avoid losing him in expansion for nothing. He's had a poor season, but still might have some value.

then who do you expose????we need to expose 1 defenseman that meets the minimum requirements and its McNabb because DD, Muzzin, Amart and Forbort are going nowhere...
