Bruins haven't went past the 2nd round since 2019. They also lost in the first round the last 2 playoffs. Sounds familiar?

So they didn't go to the finals in 2019?

I mean they would have every excuse considering they lost Chara and Rask and 2019 was 4 years ago

But you are right champ. You are right. it does sound familiar. Very

Matthews has $52 mil in career earnings already. His next contract is for $53 mil. If he took a contract for $10 mil per, and only made $40 mil, his career earnings would be at $92 mil with another contract to go.... I wonder how much that 10% loss in earnings would really affect his future lifestyle?

Imagine a world, where Matthews, Nylander and Marner all agreed to sign for $10 mil, and what this team could do with an $6-7 mil in cap room. I understand why they don't, but then also don't necessarily understand the greed completely trumping the desire to win... if there is one.

There has been plenty of critical talks about Keefe for the last 2-3 or so years. There were plenty of them in the first half of the season as well, but the Leafs turned it around.

Do I have a crystal ball? I don't know. Why give up before seeing maybe them prove you wrong? Is this not being part of a fan is? If you know everything in advance, why even bother watching or cheering?

Bruce Cassidy was fired from the Bruins for not being able to get them over the hump to winning the cup in Vegas the following year. Sometimes it's just the way it goes.
How did any of the bolded apply to what I said? Giving up is staying stats quo and "seeing what happens".......do you need a crystal ball to know what will happen with the same head coach and core that has underachieved the previous 5 playoffs.

Maybe you believe a fan is someone who has blind faith and thinks their team is the best and is going to win the cup because its their team. Some people can be fans of a team but be aware of the league as a whole and realize that their team is not contender status. Even knowing that, you watch every game anyway.....that's what makes them a fan.

That’s a nice pick up for Carolina. Man they are going to be a tough out in the playoffs. There really no risk for Carolina, a 3rd rounder got a guy who could be a big difference in a series

You want analysts and everyone to be critical of Keefe and I said they have been plenty. They will continue to be if they come up short again and I would be surprised if he's not replaced at that point.

Will they? We'll see.

Kuznetsov is awful and has been awful for awhile. I can't imagine what people would say if Treliving gave up a 3rd round pick for him.

It's a shot in the dark at best.

Except for the fact that its untrue. There hasn't been plenty of criticism of Keefe, there's been basically zero from analysts. Fans and posters on HF Boards have been critical of Keefe.

People love praising Carolina's coaching and management, and yet year in and year out they underwhelm in the playoffs. Instead of guentzel and Kuznetsov, they should be trying to finally fix their goaltending. Maybe they will today, but if they don't they will be knocked out of the playoffs again this season and be stuck with Kuznetsov next season.

I dont' think he has anything left in his tank. Carolina was better tryign to get smoeone else

Yeah, maybe. He hasn't been good for the past season or so, but going through player assistance and now a change of scenery could light the fire again. Seemed like he wanted out of Washington for a while

If it doesn't work, then Carolina can afford the small dead cap on a buyout. It's a good gamble for them, but probably not for most other teams.

They must be ecstatic that they get to play the Leafs in the in the first round again then.

From the Athletic this morning, CJ suggests Leafs focusing on bottom six forward improvement.

We know they've been actively looking for a 3C

We need to hold onto the picks we have left. This week was a harsh reminder that we most likely aren't beating the Bruins or Panthers in the playoffs.

1 more player isnt gonna change the fact our core guys are too scared to face them and are ok with staying on the outside. This Bruins team is a shell of its former self in toughness without guys like Chara, Lucic, Horton, Seidenberg, etc but still we're scared...

Its sucks to say, but its reality.

I wonder if Hayton in Arizona is remotely available? He'd be a sneaky get. Probably not.

Dowd is on the IR so I don't think he's avaialble. Kuraly probably that would be ok but don't see him in trade bait lists.

Zucker is a winger but he'd help.

I don't know who else really fits.

Should be fun.
