That said, I like Tre trading picks for big dman over Dubas acquiring tiny skilled guys.
A smattering of our recent deadline acquisitions... Luke Schenn, Ryan O'Rielly, Nick Foligno, Jack Campbell, Kyle Clifford, Mark Giordano, Jake Muzzin. Huge group of tiny skilled guys right there.

Not saying those were perfect, either, just highlighting that we've been here bringing in the grit before. The plan seems to be consistent, not different. Also not hating on the moves so far, none appear bad, they just likely aren't going to be difference makers.

There is a case to be made Dubas acquired more big guys than skilled guys. In fact he probably over did it.

lol if our only moves are Boosh and Edmundson I feel less confident about this team than I ever have in the Matthews era.

If the obstacle to add a player to help is only waiving Jones ot make it work -- the decision is pretty easy. Jones isn't going to save the season/playoffs if we lose both Samsonov and Woll to injury either.

Giordano has a concussion last I checked and he was already 1 foot out the door in terms of being an every day player.
I'd waive Gregor if I was to waive someone to make room for Kunin.

Goalie depth has saved the team at times this season. You're punching a hole in your depth chart to fill another with that move.

Giordano is the #8 guy on the depth chart, but we will need his services. A concussion doesn't have to be a long term injury. I don't think sitting him until the playoffs and having him come in ice cold is the best strategy, not that I think he should be playing much either.

Honestly, Brad should have done nothing at the deadline. Wasting assets (minor as they may be) to acquire a 7-8 D pairing as if that's the difference between being 1st round cannon fodder and legitimate cup contenders is laughable. The bottom line is what it has been forever. The team is built around superstars that turn into proverbial pumpkins in the playoffs / big game moments (Mitch failing that empty net last night when a goal would have completely changed the complexion of that game is a perfect example). Until they either grow some balls (and a heart), we're not going anywhere and they've shown for years to be incapable of that. Stop wasting assets, get to the off season and blow it the f*** up already.

We've traded a ton of picks and prospects over the last 5 years. Not a ton for Treliving to work with (though to be fair, his Klingberg and Reaves UFA signings were duds and that $$ could have been better spent).

I think a big part of it is also the decline of Brodie this year at the end of his contract. Our blueline would look a lot better if he was still playing as a #2ish dman.

Outside of the last 2 games (back to back with a flu bug going around the dressing room) this team has played pretty decently really. The "Reilly run" we had going showed what the team is capable of when they get in a groove. Yes it doesn't happen enough, but show me a team where it does? Every team could lament that there were games they "should have won" or "needed another goal from their star to win". Our goalies were a hot mess early and started to come around finally yet we are top ten, 10 points out of first (and 2 teams in our division at the top of the league). The doom and gloom is over the top I think.

We'll see what happens but I do like the fact we have at least one heavy banger on every pairing on D, and the depth of Domi and Bert may well pay off come playoff time. We do have some depth, just have to get hot at the right time.

That also works. Point is, they can add anywhere up to 1.8M on a player to the roster without removing too much or needing to get a 3rd team involved. Whatever they do after to make it fit should be simple, whether its Gregor or Jones or another trade to accommodate.

Gregor is fast, but he belongs in the Ice Capades not the NHL…….
